Patents by Inventor Foster Fargo

Foster Fargo has filed for patents to protect the following inventions. This listing includes patent applications that are pending as well as patents that have already been granted by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).

  • Publication number: 20050248618
Abstract: Disclosed is a jet printing method, which includes firing printing fluid drops and deflecting them. The drops are then deflected again in a second direction, which can allow them to be deposited in a collimated swath. Also disclosed is dynamically adjusting the deflection to achieve a dynamic swath density and/or a dynamic swath width.

  • Publication number: 20050248605
Abstract: A jet printer is disclosed that features, in one general aspect, a plurality of detectors responsive to attributes of fluid drops emitted by a jet printing nozzle, and a statistical processing module responsive to an output of each of the detectors. Also disclosed is a printer with a first non-invasive printing fluid drop detector operative to detect printing fluid drops emitted by the jet printing nozzle during flight without significantly affecting their output trajectories, and an actuator operative to change an effective spatial relationship between the detector and the nozzle. Further disclosed is a printer with a first printing fluid drop detector operative to detect printing fluid drops emitted by a jet printing nozzle, and a first fluid drop impingement detection element operative to derive information about printing fluid drops emitted by the nozzle by interfering with their trajectories.

  • Publication number: 20050030330
Abstract: One general aspect of the invention provides for creating half-tone ink-jet proofs on print-enhanced sheets based on an effective image cell pitch that substantially matches a cell pitch used to create press plates. Print process variables can be adjusted for the ink-jet proofing printer based on received color matching information. These adjustments can define preprint ink mixing ratios that allow at least some image cells to be printed with ink mixtures. Or they can define sub-area printing values that allow at least some dots to be printed with areas of different inks.

  • Patent number: 5315380
Abstract: A system for converting a first representation of a color input image to a second representation and method for performing same are disclosed. The system includes apparatus for mapping primary axes and overprint axes of a selected color coordinate system to primary axes and overprint axes of a printer color coordinate system of the second representation, thereby to produce primary conversion tables and overprint conversion tables and apparatus for converting the first representation to the second representation utilizing the primary and overprint conversion tables. The system also includes printing apparatus for printing the second representation and for producing an output print, wherein the output print is a reproduction of the color input image within the selected color coordinate system. Furthermore, the system enables selection of operator-selected appearance parameters used to match desired printer conditions in accordance with the appearance parameters.
