Patent number: 8152723Abstract: An ultrasound system is provided which includes a therapy ultrasound transducer and a diagnostic ultrasound transducer and operates in accordance with a method to direct the application of the therapy ultrasound. The method includes operating the diagnostic ultrasound transducer to acquire a first ultrasound image; simultaneously operating the diagnostic ultrasound transducer and therapy ultrasound transducer for a second interval to acquire a second ultrasound image; and determining a difference in the first and second images indicative of the pattern of the therapy ultrasound transducer signal. The difference in the images, which result from enhanced non-linearities and propagation distortions induced by the high intensity therapy ultrasound, can be obtained by subtracting the two images.Type: GrantFiled: July 22, 2009Date of Patent: April 10, 2012Assignee: Riverside Research InstituteInventors: Frederic Louis Lizzi, Cheri Xiaoyu Deng

Patent number: 7404118Abstract: Accordingly, there has been described a computer system with a plurality of memory components where individual bits from multiple words are distributed among the memory components. An error analyzer is operable to identify a memory component as potentially faulty by accessing a table mapping syndromes to memory components using generated syndromes.Type: GrantFiled: September 2, 2004Date of Patent: July 22, 2008Assignee: Sun Microsystems, Inc.Inventors: Benoit Leon Roger Ghislain Baguette, Frederic Louis Ghislain Gabriel Vecoven

Patent number: 7363531Abstract: A system controller module is operable to monitor system operation in a system that can include a further such system controller module. The system controller module can include system controller storage and can be operable to maintain system parameters therein. At least a predetermined part of the system controller storage can include a plurality of domains. A check code (e.g., a pseudo CRC) can be generated for each domain such that equivalence between check codes for a domain in the system controller storage and a corresponding domain in further storage of a further system controller module is indicative of the domains concerned being in synchronism.Type: GrantFiled: May 30, 2003Date of Patent: April 22, 2008Assignee: Sun Microsystems, Inc.Inventor: Frederic Louis Ghislain Gabriel Vecoven

Patent number: 7313717Abstract: A computer system includes a plurality of field replaceable units. A system controller monitors system errors. A diagnostic engine is responsive to the system controller detecting an error to identify a faulty field replaceable unit. A reconfiguration engine can then be operable to deconfigure the faulty field replaceable unit. By providing a diagnostic engine to identify a faulty field replaceable unit to be deconfigured, greater reliability with regard to the identification of a faulty unit can be achieved.Type: GrantFiled: April 17, 2003Date of Patent: December 25, 2007Assignee: Sun Microsystems, Inc.Inventors: Frederic Louis Ghislain Gabriel Vecoven, Sundeep R. Patent number: 7217242Abstract: Methods are provided for enhancing the image of brachytherapy seeds implanted in tissue using a transrectal ultrasound apparatus. In a first arrangement the resonance of the seeds is determined and the seeds are insonified using acoustic signals having a resonance frequency of the seeds to cause the seeds to vibrate. The vibrating seeds have enhanced detection using a Doppler ultrasound device. In a second arrangement the acoustic signature of the seeds is determined and used to enhance the imaging of the seeds using a correlation function. In a third arrangement images are taken of the tissue and implanted seeds prior to and during the application of mechanical stress to the tissue. A correlation between the unstressed and stressed tissue can cause enhanced imaging of the seeds.Type: GrantFiled: March 12, 2003Date of Patent: May 15, 2007Assignee: Riverside Research InstituteInventors: Sheikh Kaisar Alam, Ernest Joseph Feleppa, Frederic Louis Lizzi

Publication number: 20040221198Abstract: An error diagnosis engine is provided for a computer system that includes a plurality of field replaceable units and fault storage for recording fault information including information identifying first errors. The computer system further includes storage for a fault table relating errors to field replaceable units and for hardware configuration information identifying the interconnection of field replaceable units. The diagnosis engine is operable to search the fault storage to determine a first error and to interact with the fault table and the hardware configuration information to determine a source of the first error. Providing an error diagnosis engine to determine a source of the first error can enable greater reliability with regard to the identification of a faulty unit.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 17, 2003Publication date: November 4, 2004Inventor: Frederic Louis Ghislain Gabriel Vecoven
