  • Patent number: 6082821
Abstract: A mobile joint mechanism comprising a fixed flange and a mobile flange that can be locked by two units controlled by a sliding push-rod that is itself activated by the pivoting of two control plates linked one to the other by idle movement, to free the mobile flange. A circular guide includes radial gaps that receive the units, and maintain the units in retracted position when they disengage from the radial gaps through the pivoting of one of the control plates, which also fixes the circular guide to the mobile flange. The mobile flange can thus turn freely before in re-locks at its original angle when the radial gaps of the circular guide return to be opposite the units.

  • Patent number: 5997090
Abstract: The hinge device for a vehicle seat comprises an intermediate plate carrying first and second cheek-plates, one designed to be fixed to the seat-back and the other to the seat proper. The first cheek-plate is connected to the intermediate plate via a mechanism enabling the inclination of the seat-back to be adjusted in substantially continuous manner. The second cheek-plate is connected to the intermediate plate via a locking mechanism controlled by the same handle as the mechanism for adjusting the inclination of the seat-back.

  • Patent number: 5984254
Abstract: A vehicle seat slideway has a male channel member whose two flanges are outwardly extended by flaps extending at an angle outwards and towards the web of the male channel member to a vertical end portion, and a female channel member having flanges extended by reentrant troughs penetrating between the flanges and the flaps of the male channel member. Same-diameter balls are disposed firstly between each flap and the corresponding reentrant trough, bearing against at least the vertical end portion of the flap and against a sloping flat portion which extends an initial horizontal portion of the reentrant trough, and secondly against the flap and a corner zone situated at the junction between the web and the corresponding flange of the female channel member.

  • Patent number: 5984413
Abstract: This concerns a hinge mechanism comprising a fixed end plate, a movable end plate lockable by two wedges controlled by a sliding pushrod, itself activated by pivoting of a control plate in a first or second direction in order to free the movable end plate. A circular guide comprises radial breaks receiving the wedges, and holding the wedges in a withdrawn position when they disengage from the radial breaks under the pivoting effect of the control plate in the second direction, which fixes in addition the circular guide to the movable end plate. The movable end plate can thus turn freely before relocking in its initial angular position when the radial breaks of the circular guide return opposite the wedges.

  • Patent number: 5820218
Abstract: A hinge for the back of a vehicle front seat comprises two fine adjustment mechanisms A and B having respective central cams and toothed slugs 7A and 7B, the mechanisms being disposed on either side of the seat and being controllable by a common handle 8, the hinge also has a single locking mechanism C with a latch that is controllable by a knob M, the locking mechanism being situated on the same side as the handle and allowing the back to be tilted down forwards. The cams are controlled by two colinear lengths of shaft 6A and 6B that are free to move angularly relative to each other and the first of which is connected to the handle. These lengths are respectively connected to two levers 17 and 18-19 that bear angularly against each other, the lever 18 which is not connected to the handle being connected by a cable 20 to the latch in such a manner that the mechanism B that is further from the handle is controlled both by the handle and by the knob.

  • Patent number: 5755491
Abstract: A hinge mechanism for a vehicle seat comprises first and second cheek plates connected to each other via a hypocycloid gear driven by a first control shaft, and further comprising a third cheek plate which guides toothed slugs that are normally maintained in engagement with a set of teeth of the second cheek plate by a resiliently biased cam. In this way, the second and third cheek plates are normally secured to each other; however, by actuating a second control shaft secured to the cam, the slugs can be released, thereby enabling the third cheek plate to rotate freely relative to the second cheek plate, thereby enabling the seat to be adjusted quickly.

  • Patent number: 5717300
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for longitudinal positioning of a vehicle seat, including an electrical automatic device for displacing the seat part of the seat forwards when the backrest of the seat is folded down, and backwards as far as a previously set position when the backrest is brought upright again. The automatic device includes a slider which can move longitudinally, a sensor for detecting a position known as the locking position of the slider relative to the seat part, a lock for securing the slider and the seat part in this position, a circuit-breaker for stopping the action of the automatic device in the event where the latter is displacing the seat part backwards and where the locking position is detected, the lock and the circuit-breaker being neutralized when the backrest is folded down.

  • Patent number: 5692839
Abstract: A slide for a vehicle seat comprises a first bar having a narrow channel section with vertical flanges that are extended outwardly by rims, and a second bar having a wide upside-down channel section enveloping the first bar with the ends of the vertical flanges being extended inwardly by reentrant troughs, the two bars being shaped to form four ball tracks between them. Each outer vertical flange has an outwardly directed ridge, and each rim has an extension suitable for hooking against the inside face of a ridge when a vertical force is exerted tending to pull the two bars apart.

  • Patent number: 5681086
Abstract: An articulation for a vehicle seat, including a fixed flange, a movable flange provided with an internal circular toothing, at least one lock gear capable of cooperating with the toothing of the movable flange, this lock gear being displaceable radially by a cam, the lock gear having two opposite abutment faces which extend parallel to the direction of sliding of the lock gear from the vicinity of the toothing of this lock gear as far as a shoulder oriented in the opposite direction from this toothing. Two counter-abutment faces integral with the fixed flange are arranged facing the abutment faces and their shoulders, and one of the abutment faces penetrates into its counter-abutment face when the movable flange is subjected to a predetermined pivoting torque while the lock gear cooperates with the toothing of the fixed flange.

  • Patent number: 5611599
Abstract: The vehicle seat hinge comprises a first cheek plate (8) for the back, a second cheek plate (9) for the seat and co-operating with the first cheek plate to define a round housing, a ring (11) with an inside set of teeth associated with the first cheek plate and housed inside the housing, a control member (5), and a mechanism (M) inside the housing, controllable by said member, and co-operating with the set of teeth (12) of the ring to perform fine adjustment of the inclination of the back. The toothed ring is mounted to be angularly slidable along a complementary annular bearing surface (14) of the first cheek plate, and a second mechanism is provided inside the housing suitable for reversibly coupling the toothed ring to the first cheek plate and including two abutments that are angularly fixed relative to respective ones of said elements and suitable for storing each preadjusted position of the second element whenever they are uncoupled.
