  • Publication number: 20240139118
Abstract: Devices and methods for selectively accessing tissue for sensing or drug release are provided. A device includes an array of wells formed in a substrate supporting a plurality of membranes. Each membrane is disposed at a well opening of one of the wells of the array. The device further includes an actuator and electronics configured to control the actuator to supply a vibration through the substrate. • Publication number: 20230068335
Abstract: Sensors and methods of fabricating sensors for detecting an analyte, such as a cytokine are provided. A sensor includes a porous, hydrophilic substrate, throughout which a coating comprising a mixture of graphene and a conductive polymer is disposed. The sensor further includes a sensing area, at which the coating is functionalized with at least one molecule that provides for a binding interaction with the analyte, and a contact area. The contact area includes an electrode in operative arrangement with the sensing area to provide a signal indicative of an impedance.

  • Publication number: 20220390590
Abstract: There is described a terahertz (THz) imaging device and method for imaging an object hidden underneath clothing. The THz imaging device is generally configured for illuminating a region of clothing with a THz illumination beam, collecting a return optical beam reflected from the region of clothing in response to the illumination, generating a THz image based on the collected return optical beam, and tracking a position and orientation of the THz imaging device as the THz image is generated. A plurality of complementary THz images are generated by repeating the steps of illuminating, collecting, generating and tracking for a plurality of points of view of the THz imaging device relative to the clothing. By registering these THz images to one another in a common coordinate system based on the tracked position and orientation, the THz imaging device can output a composite THz image representing the hidden object, if any.

  • Publication number: 20210158496
Abstract: A method and a system of imaging a scene are disclosed. The method can include acquiring, at a frame chip acquisition rate, a plurality of frame chip images of the scene while repeatedly scanning the scene across a range of focus positions. The method can also include generating, from the plurality of frame chip images, a sequence of fused frame images. A fused frame image is generated by a focus-stacking operation on a stack of N consecutive ones of the plurality of frame chip images, at least one of the N frame chip images used in generating one of the fused frame images also being used in generating at least another one of the fused frame images. The fused frame images can be displayed at a refresh rate greater than 1/N times the frame chip acquisition rate. A method of motion artifact reduction in focus-stacking imaging is also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20060166360
Abstract: This invention discloses a method for reducing the intracellular lipid storage material of a cell, tissue, or organ for transplantation and features solutions, methods and kits that induce the metabolic elimination of lipid storage in a cell, tissue, or organ. In one exemplary approach, the process involves contacting a cell, tissue, or organ with a perfusate solution that include catabolic hormones and amino acids, at physiological conditions, to increase lipid export and lipid oxidation. If desired, the cell, tissue, or organ of the invention may also be heat shock preconditioned. The invention can be used to prepare, recondition, or store a cell, tissue, or organ for transplantation by increasing tolerance to ischemia-reperfusion and cold-preservation related injury.
