  • Publication number: 20080208991
Abstract: A data processing arrangement (BBP) comprises a system-host processor (SHP) and a system-guest processor (SGPl). The system-host processor (SHP) is provided with an operating system (OS) and an operating-system-message transceiver (SI) for receiving an operating-system-related message corresponding with a service request and for sending an operating-system-related message corresponding with a service response. The system-guest processor (SGPl) is provided with an operating-system simulator (SOI). The operating-system simulator (SOI) sends an operating-system-related message to the system-host processor (SHP) in response to a service request from a task (A, B) that the system-guest processor carries (SGP) out. The operating-system simulator (SOI) provides a service response to the task (A, H) in response to an operating-system-related message from the system-host processor (SHP).

  • Publication number: 20080110753
Abstract: A device for handling drops on a displacement by electrowetting plane, including at least one displacement track. The track includes an electrically insulating substrate on the surface of which rest two or more interdigitated conducting electrodes. These electrodes are covered by a dielectric insulating layer, itself covered by a partially-wetting layer. Also, a method for the manufacture of the aforementioned device, in which the creation of the partially-wetting layer includes the creation of a mask in a photosensitive material by the deposition of this material onto a substrate, then a photolithographic stage, followed by development of the photosensitive material, the deposition of a non-wetting material onto the mask, at least one annealing process before dissolution, dissolution of the mask, and at least one annealing process after dissolution. Also, a system for the microfluidic analysis of a liquid sample.

  • Patent number: 5398624
Abstract: A transplanting tool for the manual extraction and planting of seedlings. The transplanting tool comprises, a digging tube, a hollow plunger slidably contained within said digging tube, a stem and a transverse piece forming a handle, and a pair of foot bars extending from the outside surface of said digging tube, at substantially opposite direction from one another. The arrangement of the components therefrom, offers a clear line of sight at the center of the hollow plunger for placing the digging tube over a seedling without damaging the plant's foliage. The angle of the foot bars is adapted to prevent strain on the user's leg, thereby facilitating altering between digging and walking motion. The transplanting tool is therefore especially suitable for extracting seedlings from rough terrains.

  • Patent number: 4910763
Abstract: A data transmission system is described which includes a switching circuit that enables the connection of a tributary modem to a control modem via the public switched network. Switching occurs when it is no longer possible to transmit data on the leased network because the line connected to the tributary modem has failed. The switching circuit can connect either the permanent leased line or the switched network to the receiver of the control modem. It comprises a narrow pass-band filter and detector which is permanently connected between the reception side of the switched network and the control modem receiver. When the tributary modem answers a call from the control modem, it sends a tone ahead of the data message, the frequency of which tone corresponds to the frequency of the pass-band filter and is out of the data band.

  • Patent number: 4262360
Abstract: A method and device which, in a receiver forming part of a data transmission system using DSB-QC modulation and wherein the transmitter generates a first sequence of successive carrier phase changes of 180.degree. taking place at the signaling rate 1/T followed by a second sequence of pseudo-random carrier phase changes of 0.degree. and 180.degree., with the first of these being a 0.degree. phase change, permit detecting the beginning of said second sequence. The received signal is filtered to extract therefrom its components at frequencies f.sub.1 and f.sub.2 defined asf.sub.1 =f.sub.c -1/2T f.sub.2 =f.sub.c +1/2Twhere f.sub.c is the carrier frequency. The components at frequencies f.sub.1 and f.sub.2 are combined to generate a signal S of frequency 1/T. The beginning of said second sequence is determined by detecting the instant at which the energy of signal S drops below its average value.
