Abstract: A method is provided for controlling a drying cycle of a laundry dryer having a laundry drum and an air stream fan for circulating drying air through said laundry drum. The method includes the steps of: starting a drying cycle (14); performing the drying cycle (16); detecting an electric resistance and/or conductivity of the laundry during the drying cycle (16) for estimating a dryness level of the laundry; comparing the electric resistance and/or conductivity of the laundry with an end cycle condition (20; 28, 30; 36); and finishing the drying cycle (16), if the end cycle condition (20; 28, 30; 36) is fulfilled. The end cycle condition (20; 28, 30; 36) depends on the rotation speed (SD) of the laundry drum and/or on the rotation speed (SF) of the air stream fan.

  • Patent number: 10294605
Abstract: A heat pump laundry dryer or a heat pump washing machine having a drying function, includes a control unit controlling an operation of the laundry treatment apparatus. A laundry treatment chamber treats laundry using process air circulated in a process air circuit. A heat pump system has a refrigerant loop in which refrigerant fluid is circulated through a first and a second heat exchanger. A compressor circulates the refrigerant fluid through the refrigerant loop, and a cooling fan unit cools the compressor. During the operation, a conveyance capacity of the cooling fan unit is varied. A detector unit detects an operation parameter indicating a state of at least one electronic board. A method of operation includes operating the cooling fan unit based upon the electronic board operation parameter, and controlling the compressor operation output based upon the electronic board operation parameter, wherein the compressor is a variable speed compressor.

  • Publication number: 20160168777
Abstract: A vented tumble laundry dryer is provided with a heat pump subassembly configured to join with a heater inlet and a blower outlet in an open air flow circuit. The heat pump subassembly forms a closed refrigerant loop. Condenser and evaporator heat exchangers of the subassembly form parts of the open air flow circuit. Air drawn from inside the dryer cabinet passes sequentially through the condenser heat exchanger, the heater, the dryer drum, the process air fan, and the evaporator heat exchanger before being vented to the outside. The heat exchangers have a modular construction that permits one to be stacked on the other and to be angularly offset with respect to the other in both horizontal and vertical planes, thus facilitating integration of the heat pump subassembly into existing vented dryer designs.
