  • Publication number: 20260012230
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for mimicking a multi-user multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) base station using a re-designed channel estimation procedure is provided. The method includes sweeping a set of beam patterns to obtain channel information associated with a plurality of pilot signals from a plurality of user equipment (UEs) and selecting a beam to communicate with each of the plurality of UEs. The method further includes allocating radio resources to communicate with each of the plurality of UEs based on the selected beam for each of the plurality of UEs and performing downlink and uplink transmissions to and from the plurality of UEs based on the allocated radio resources. In some instances, the method can include computational intelligence to allow for optimized and/or enhanced decision making based on using a reconfigurable intelligence surface (RIS) and a single radio-frequency (RF) chain to mimic the operation of multi-user MIMO base stations.

  • Publication number: 20260010168
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for preemptive obstacle detection and tracking in an environment includes the steps: a) constructing a power-angle measurement profile based on signal power indicators (SPIs) within a time interval, the SPIs including a measured power of each signal received via a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) of a plurality of RISs located within the environment; b) mapping a reduction in the measured power in the power-angle measurement profile to a first RIS associated with a first angular sector of the environment to predict a presence of an obstacle therein; and c) updating a coordination plan associated with the RISs based on feedback to track the obstacle. Steps a)-c) are iteratively repeated to predict a presence of the obstacle in further angular sectors. A predicted trajectory of the obstacle is extrapolated over time based on the predicted presence of the obstacle in the angular sectors.

  • Publication number: 20250373484
Abstract: A method for detecting and managing conflicting interactions among agents operating on a shared open radio environment includes evaluating effects of monitored actions taken by agents on one or more observed metrics, the actions taken by agents being observed by a monitoring system of the shared open radio environment. The monitored actions and information that is collected about the agents from the monitoring system is used to build a knowledge graph that represents interactions between each agent of the set of agents with the shared open radio environment and the agents. Information extracted from the knowledge graph is processed to estimate unknown and/or dynamic relationships among the agents. The estimated relationships among the agents is used to detect conflicting situations between the agents, and a predefined coordination and/or control policy is enforced according to the estimated relationships among the agents to solve the detected conflicting situations.

  • Publication number: 20250355104
Abstract: A computer-implemented method for detecting the presence of a reconfigurable intelligence surfaces (RIS) device using a radar device includes receiving an analog received (RX) signal using a receiver antenna of the radar device based on a transmitted (TX) signal. The method further includes mixing the TX signal and the analog RX signal to generate an intermediate frequency (IF) signal and processing the IF signal to detect a characteristic of the IF signal that indicates a presence of the RIS device. The method has applications in optimization and/or decision making associated with robots. For instance, based on performing the RIS detection, the robot can optimize its path to survey an environment (e.g., maximize exploration rate that is constrained by the battery of the robot). In some embodiments, machine learning (ML) and/or artificial intelligence (AI) techniques can be used to perform the RIS detection.

  • Publication number: 20250240646
Abstract: A method of self-configuration of a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) for optimizing a gain of a reflected beam between a base station (BS) and a User Equipment (UE) includes acquiring, using power sensing capabilities of the RIS, a power profile through sequential activation of probing beams. An angular position of the BS and the UE is obtained by identifying power profile peaks in the acquired power profile. An optimal RIS configuration is computed locally according to the obtained angular position of the BS and U. The RIS is self-configured by setting the computed optimal RIS configuration.

  • Patent number: 12003311
Abstract: A method for establishing a direct communication using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) with a reconfiguration intelligent surface (RIS) includes configuring RIS parameters based on compensating for undesired oscillations of a position and an orientation associated with the UAV. A signal reflection associated with a beam signal is steered to a target area based on the RIS parameters and by the RIS of the UAV. The signal beam is from a transmitter.
