Abstract: A method and system for optimally positioning a tooth implant in the alveolar ridge of the patient's mouth is provided. A lateral plane of inclination is first defined that is cosmetically consistent with the lateral inclination of the teeth adjacent the area in the alveolar ridge where the implant is to be placed and which does not otherwise interfere with the roots of these teeth. Bone dimension in the alveolar ridge location where the implant is to be received is then determined. Finally, an anterior/posterior inclination is selected which is consistent with the anterior/posterior inclination of those same adjacent teeth. The dental implant is now capable of being guided to the implant site along the angular inclinations that were determined by the practitioner to be optimal.
