  • Patent number: 8419830
Abstract: An apparatus and method for adsorption of organic and inorganic volatile compounds in gas flows by continuous and simultaneous distribution of a plurality of primary and secondary flows, through particular distribution and shut-off devices, to a plurality of chambers, in which the individual energy and mass transfer operations associated with such adsorption occur. High flow-rate and/or concentration are accommodated, following a cyclic adsorption/regeneration process, in which a part of the adsorbent material is used to separate the compounds in gas flows, while the rest of the material sequentially undergoes two or more desorption steps in a stabilized atmosphere suitable to carry the desorbed compounds at very high concentrations, and a final cooling step in a stabilized atmosphere, for preparing the material for continuing the process.

  • Publication number: 20100300145
Abstract: A method is disclosed for distributing a plurality of fluid which flows through a plurality of chambers and an apparatus for performing this method, which comprises a first fluid flow distribution device (2), with no mixing feature, having a first plurality P of inlet/outlet lines (31, 32, 33, 34) opposite a second plurality N of inlet/outlet lines (41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48), where N?P, said first distribution device (2) selectively connecting each of said lines of said second plurality N of lines (41, 42, 43, 44, 45, 46, 47, 48) with one of said lines of said first plurality P of lines (31, 32, 33, 34), said first distribution device (2) being adapted for simultaneous intermittent and sequential switching of the connection between all of said N lines of said second plurality of lines with all of said P lines of said first plurality of lines, to sequentially provide N different possible inlet/outlet patterns; a second fluid flow distribution device (6), said second distribution devices (6) have a synchr

  • Patent number: 7294173
Abstract: A method for desorption and recovery of desorbed compounds, including the steps of generating a recirculating stream of inert gas (1), which passes through the material (2) to be desorbed, heating such inert gas stream to a temperature sufficient to cause the desorption process, yielding a gas effluent (3) from such recirculating stream of inert gas (1) in such a manner that the recirculated gas keeps a constant pressure, cooling such gas effluent to cause condensation of the desorbed compounds contained in such gas effluent (3), the cooling being obtained at least partly by pressure vaporization of a cryogenic fluid (4), and feeding such recirculating gas stream (1) by using at least a part of such pressure vaporized cryogenic fluid that was previously used to cool at least a part of the gas effluent (3).
