  • Patent number: 4653595
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a hammer and follow block chain remote release device and method to eliminate the need of a human having to ride the pile driving leads until the follow block is separated from the hammer. This is attained by passing a chain through the follow block and over horns on the hammer. A remote release device is connected to one end of the chain and an elongated link secured to the other end of the chain is engaged with the release device and a remotely actuated coupling member is pulled to release the connection between the chain and release device to permit separation of the follow block from the hammer by passage of the chain through the follow block and over the horns on the hammer.

  • Patent number: 4549682
Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a nail driving apparatus having a percussive air hammer driving a chisel. The apparatus has a base member, having guide means upstanding from each side of the base member. A cradle means is movable along the guide means and means carried by the cradle means is adapted to mount the air hammer securely to said cradle means. A nail barrel means is carried by the base member into which both nails to be driven and the chisel of the air hammer is positioned on the base member to be received and one of the guide means upstanding from the base member forms a nail chute having means for delivering nails singly to the barrel means beneath the chisel when the air hammer and cradle is raised.

  • Patent number: 4526278
Abstract: The present disclosure of a board bundle cradle is for use with the free end of a dip stick having a pivoted work carrier at its free end having a hook which has a horizontally rotatable work carrier movable through an arc of the order of 106.degree. horizontally relative to the pivot. The board road board bundle cradle has a pair of spaced apart end frames each of which has a base member adapted to receive and support a bundle of boards to be laid into a board road. A major and a minor board bundle containment member upstands from each end of each base member and extends from the upper portion of each major support member. Spacer means between the spaced apart end frames rigidly secures the frames together. The portion lying between the upwardly forwardly inclined member and the upper free end of the minor board bundle containment member defines the loading mouth of the cradle through which a bundle of boards to be laid are introduced to the base members of each end frame.

  • Patent number: 4436235
Abstract: My invention is directed to portable pneumatic nail driving devices for working with large nails ranging in size from 30 to 90 penny which are fed from a primary chute through a transfer chute to a nail driving barrel carried by a base frame. Upstanding from the base are guides over which slides a cradle to which a pneumatic gun having a chisel is carried to that the chisel enters the barrel after a nail has been introduced to drive the nail. Such apparatus is used in the construction of board roads in swamps incident to oil field work.

  • Patent number: 4433464
Abstract: An apparatus for salvaging nailed boards employed in the building of temporary board roads over marsh land. The boards have nails extending from one side thereof which must be bent flush and the boards stacked in bundles for reuse in laying a new board road. The apparatus has at its front end a set of board receiving rolls with their axes along the major axis of the machine for receiving the boards with their major axis transversely of the machine on the rolls with the nail extending upwardly. Co-extensive with the board receiving rolls for advancing the boards edgewise from the front to the rear of the machine are pivoted dog pushers. In advance of the nail bending roll there is provided a pair of barriers for maintaining a single vertical layer of boards. A pair of endless chains are positioned to engage and move boards edgewise rearwardly from the board receiving rolls through the machine.
