  • Patent number: 11937906
Abstract: Systems and methods for monitoring blood flow metrics using a patch of a flexible substrate configured to attach to an area of skin over a blood vessel. The patch includes a plurality of light sources arranged on the substrate to form a matrix and a row of photodetectors disposed on the substrate substantially in parallel with the rows of LEDs. The patch includes an optical signal interface configured to drive each light source and to input an intensity signal at one of the photodetectors. The intensity signals are used to determine AC and DC components corresponding to each optical path. AC to DC component ratios are calculated for each optical path and used to determine ratio-of-ratio values. At least a subset of the ratio-of-ratio values are used to determine a biological metric or a cross-sectional area of the blood vessel.

  • Patent number: 11913495
Abstract: A bearing and/or seal assembly where pressurized gas (e.g., air) may be arranged to produce a contact-free bearing and/or seal is provided. The assembly includes a permeable body (12) including structural features (13) selectively engineered to convey a pressurized gas (Ps) from an inlet side (20) side of the permeable body to an outlet side (22) of the permeable body to form an annular film of the pressurized gas relative to the rotatable shaft. Disclosed embodiments may be produced by way of three-dimensional (3D) Printing/Additive Manufacturing (AM) technologies with practically no manufacturing variability; and may also cost-effectively and reliably benefit from the relatively complex geometries and the features and/or conduits that may be involved to, for example, form the desired distribution pattern or impart a desired directionality to the pressurized gas conveyed through the permeable body of the bearing and/or seal assembly.

  • Publication number: 20230227734
Abstract: A method of treating a contaminated oil comprising preparing a brine solution, adding ozone to the brine solution to produce ozonated brine solution, adding a volume of ozonated brine solution to a volume of the contaminated oil, mixing the volumes of contaminated oil and ozonated brine solution with coagulant and surfactant at a shear rate sufficiently high so as to cause formation of an emulsion of the contaminated oil and the brine solution, stopping the mixing, thereby causing the emulsion to separate into an aqueous brine liquid phase and an oil liquid phase, separating the brine liquid phase from the oil liquid phase, and separating at least one contaminant from the oil liquid phase to produce a volume of purified oil.
