  • Patent number: 7692924
Abstract: The present invention provides a rack suitable for housing a liquid-cooled electric unit. A rack 2 comprises an electric connector 12 for supplying electricity to the housed electric unit 50, and a fluid connector 14 for supplying cooling liquid to the housed electric unit 50. The fluid connector 14 and the electric connector 12 are arranged at different positions in a horizontal cross section (plane) of the rack 2. More preferably, the electric connector 12 is mounted on a back panel 6 of the rack 2, while the fluid connector 14 is mounted on the foreside of the rack 2. Such a configuration makes it less likely that the cooling liquid leaking from the fluid connector 14 drips onto the electric connector 12.

  • Publication number: 20090273234
Abstract: An aircraft power distribution system is disclosed that includes a power distribution box. A generator supplies power to the power distribution box, and a load receives power from the power distribution box. The power distribution box includes a board supporting plug-in pins receiving the power. A contactor is supported by the board to selectively providing power to a secondary power distribution connector supported on the board. The board includes power traces that are run within the board to connect the plug-in pins to the secondary power distribution connector. Protection and secondary power distribution circuitry is also supported by the board and connected to the contactors and/or power traces by control traces. The power and control traces eliminate loose wiring and harnesses.

  • Patent number: 7538990
Abstract: An apparatus, and a method of opening and closing electrical power feed lines using a hybrid contactor, which combines a traditional set of mechanical main contacts with a high voltage solid state switch. The solid state switch provides a parallel current path around the main contacts. When the main contacts are to be opened or closed, the solid state switch is first closed, diverting current away from the main contacts to prevent arc formation when the main contacts are being opened or closed. Once the main contacts are opened or closed, the solid state switch is opened, as the parallel current path is no longer needed. Optional auxiliary contacts are connected in series with the solid state switch to provide galvanic isolation between an input terminal and an output terminal.
