  • Publication number: 20070160223
Abstract: An invention is described for a personal noise canceling system that consists of noise canceling headphones, a noise cancellation electronics module and a personal computing device. One embodiment of the invention places the noise canceling electronics module in a USB connector fob, which serves as a personal computing device, and also acts as the connection interface between the headphones and a complementary computing device. Another embodiment places the noise canceling electronics module within a decoupled personal computing device where built in audio electronics, software, firmware and power source may be leveraged for implementation of signal conditioning and processing in support of noise cancellation.

  • Publication number: 20060140445
Abstract: The invention details how to capture very high quality face images in demanding environments for either manual review or automated recognition algorithms. By dynamically controlling a host of imaging parameters and segmenting the field of view into regions just around the faces, or one region per face in the field of view, a face image may be generated of superior quality to that which is produced from an imaging system that takes a more global approach to image parameter adjustment. Specific face regions are given imaging priority, at the expense of other regions of lower priority. Furthermore, face regions may be tracked as a function of time and space, thereby sustaining or improving face image quality as the face location migrates with the field of view.

  • Publication number: 20050257068
Abstract: The invention brings together the components of digital image capture and digital fingerprint capture to both speed up and make more secure the process of applying for a firearm permit and the process of issuing a firearm permit. Biometric data captured, such as face and finger, is used in both verifying the applicant's asserted identity (biometric verification) and in ensuring the applicant is not a member of a group (or database) of individuals who should not be granted a permit (biometric identification). Furthermore, the invention discusses issuing a credential that is inherently more secure than printed and laminated credentials that are ubiquitous today. The invention simultaneously improves service to residents via reduced credential issuance timelines, improves the security of who is issued a firearm credential, and improves the integrity of the firearm credential.

  • Publication number: 20050219360
Abstract: This invention details a system that combines the traditional security systems of access control and recorded video surveillance, and adds the essential layer of biometrics for non-reputable verification. Furthermore, this invention constitutes a true integration of these key security components, and in turn represents a system value proposition that far exceeds that of the individual components alone particularly in support of post event investigations.
