    Abstract: According to the principles disclosed herein, an image requested by a mobile device is first processed in a server device. In accordance with a set of parameters about the screen of the mobile device, the requested image is transformed to a reduced version that fits well into the screen. In addition, the reduced version is inherently divided into a number of subareas, each embedded a link to a detailed version thereof and associated with one of the keys in the mobile device. When the reduced version is, displayed on the mobile device, a user decides to view an area that falls into one of the subareas, a corresponding key is activated. A new request including the link is send to the server device that consequently sends out the detailed version. Similary, the detailed version is inherently divided into the same number of subareas. As a result, all parts in the original image can be recursively viewed.

    Abstract: An apparatus and method for implementing spelling error detection and correction for a two-way mobile communication device. The two-way mobile communication device has a display screen and a telephone-type keypad (e.g., keys 0-9, “*”, “#”, etc.) with the characters mapped onto each key in a many to one fashion. According to one embodiment, when the end of a character string (e.g., a word) is indicated by the input of a termination symbol (e.g., a space or “#”) then that character string is compared to a plurality of character strings stored in a dictionary. If no match is found for the character string in the dictionary, then it assumed that the character string is misspelled. Individual character elements of the subject character string are then systematically replaced by character elements mapped to the same key, and then each combination is compared to the entries resident in the dictionary.

    Abstract: The present invention is a method and apparatus that measures the similarity of two images. Any information that can be discretely symbolized can be transformed into an image through so-called "image projection". This process is used to define otherwise discrete entities as part of a linear space, making it possible to calculate distances among those entities. A mechanism called a cluster allows association of otherwise discrete symbols, improving the matching abilities of the invention. Initially, the sequence of symbols is normalized. Then, a projection of the normalized sequence is created. The projection may be optionally generated with a cluster that assigns weights to the neighbors of a core symbol and/or with position weights that assigns weights to each position in the normalized image. Projection matching is then performed to determine match candidates for the string of symbols.
