Publication number: 20190318322Abstract: Methods for scheduling events to optimize an order of future events are disclosed herein. In general, future events are scheduled on the best possible day and time available for the proposed event to optimize the likelihood of a successful meeting or event. This is possible, for example, when there is a common time, or set of times, when two or more parties are available to meet. In some cases, future meeting schedules may be determined based on the shortest traveling time from the user's starting location, the travel time from the event to other clients scheduled for the same day, real-time location of the user, historical event data, such as the scheduling times that have generated successful events in the past for a given client. A successful event may be indicated manually from the user, or by automatic means, for example by determining a sale was completed.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 12, 2018Publication date: October 17, 2019Inventor: Francis J. Patent number: 7466961Abstract: The present invention is a compact personal digital assistant (PDA) and cellular telephone with foldable dual-sided display. By utilizing flexible display technology, both a PDA and a cellular telephone are incorporated into one device. In a closed state, in one embodiment, the present invention corresponds to the form used for typical cellular telephone use (e.g., candy bar size). In an open state, in one embodiment, the present invention corresponds to the form used for typical PDA use by providing an enlarged viewing area. The present invention provides the benefit of two distinct devices in one device by allowing for common operations and functionality without compromising the respective form factor of either device.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 2004Date of Patent: December 16, 2008Assignee: Palm, Inc.Inventors: Rich Gioscia, Francis J. Canova, Jr.

Patent number: 7296107Abstract: Embodiments of this invention provide for a portable computer that determines whether an accessory device is actively connected to it. In one embodiment, the portable computer may include a signal line accessible through an output of the portable computing device. The signal line may be connected to a communication device such as a communication cradle. The portable computer may detect a signal on the signal line to determine whether the communication device is actively connected to the portable computer. If the communication device is actively connected, the portable computer suspends implementation of a time-out feature that would otherwise reduce power consumption of the portable computer.Type: GrantFiled: October 28, 2003Date of Patent: November 13, 2007Assignee: Palm, Inc.Inventors: Eric M. Lunsford, Steven C. Lemke, Neal A. Osborn, Francis J. Canova, Jr., Scott R. Johnson

Patent number: 6721892Abstract: A dynamic performance circuit adjustment system and method that flexibly adjusts the performance of a logic circuit. The dynamic performance circuit adjustment system and method facilitates flexible power conservation. In one exemplary implementation, a dynamic performance adjustment control circuit controls performance adjustments to a logic circuit (e.g., a processor) and adjusts support functions for the logic circuit. The logic circuit performs operational functions (e.g., processing) or tasks that have different performance requirements. For example, some tasks performed by the logic circuit are required to be performed in a relatively short duration of time and other tasks performed by logic circuit have relatively longer time limitations.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 2000Date of Patent: April 13, 2004Assignee: palmOne, Inc.Inventors: Neal Osborn, Francis J. Patent number: RE40236Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for reserving power in a handheld computer by inducing a sleep mode when the energy supply of the handheld computer reaches a predetermined low level. A software is provided which operates a sleep mode when a device of the handheld computer detects a predetermined low battery voltage. A processor operates the software to place the handheld computer in a low energy-consuming shutdown state in which an interrupt controller operates to mask those interrupt signals thus providing an user with the impression that the device has entered an unresponsive sleep mode. In maintaining the sleep mode, the processor operates such that all input signals that request the handheld computer to power up remain active but so long as the battery voltage remains below a predetermined voltage the interrupt signals to power up selected applications and devices are masked.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 2005Date of Patent: April 8, 2008Assignee: Palm, Inc.Inventors: Scott R. Johnson, Francis J. Canova, Eric M. Lunsford, Nicholas Twyman, Neal A. Osborne
