  • Patent number: 6558104
Abstract: Damage to a hook lift type of container handling system caused by torsional loading of a jib slidable within a tube or the like pivotably mounted on a frame carried by a vehicle is minimized by providing a secondary frame that is pivoted to the vehicle and which is made up of two spaced, parallel, tubular structures and a jib made up of two, parallel tube like structures telescopically, slidably received in the tube like structures of the second frame. The jib includes an upstanding hook and by reason of the spacing between the two tubes of both the jib and the secondary frame, a high resistance to torsional loading is provided, thereby eliminating damage as a result of torsional forces.

  • Patent number: 6065942
Abstract: A utility package for installation in the bed of a pickup truck includes a frame (10) having a relatively narrow, lower vertical section (12) of a width W1 narrower than the interior spacing between the sides of the pickup truck bed while substantially spanning the entire interior distance between such sides and a relatively wide, upper horizontal section (14) of a width greater than the interior spacing between the sides and no greater than about the distance between the exteriors of the sides and adapted to be supported on the tops of the sides. An elongated pressure vessel (26) is located within the vertical section (12) and a pair of upright housing sections (64,68) are mounted on the horizontal section (14) oppositely of the vertical section (12). The housing section (64,68) have access openings (78) at respective ends (16,18) of the horizontal section (14).

  • Patent number: 4911330
Abstract: A service vehicle includes a frame (10) on which a material dispensing system is mounted. The dispensing system includes reservoirs (30, 32) and (34) for various lubricants or the like and pumps (46) for pumping material out of the associated reservoirs (30, 32) and (34). The pumps (46) are driven by hydraulic motors (50) which may receive hydraulic fluid under pressure through electrically operated control valves (76) from a pressure compensated, variable displacement pump (60) driven by the engine (64) for the vehicle. The use of the pressure compensated variable displacement pump (60) achieves operating efficiencies.

  • Patent number: 4787809
Abstract: A lift gate assembly including a U-shaped base having horizontal central section flanked by parallel upstanding legs, a gate, and a pair of upstanding legs secured to the gate in alignment with the legs and the base. Links extending between the legs define two parallelogram linkages and a torsion bar extends between and is rigidly attached to a corresponding link in each of the parallelogram linkages. Preferably, the torsion bar defines the lower pivot of the parallelogram linkage and extends between the legs of the base and the lowermost links in each parallelogram linkage, being rigidly attached thereto. Hydraulic cylinders are provided for each parallelogram linkage to raise and lower the gate.

  • Patent number: 4564057
Abstract: A bead loosening tool for loosening the axially inner bead of a tire in a dual wheel set without disassembling the set and a method of bead loosening for loosening the axially inner bead of such tires. The apparatus includes a pair of elongated arms movable between open and closed positions. In the closed position, the arms are sufficiently close to each other as to be insertable in the space between the tires of a dual wheel set. A motor is provided for driving the arms apart to loosen the bead.According to the method, the tool is inserted between the tires of a dual wheel set and relatively movable surfaces of the tool positioned against the rim of the axially inner wheel of the set and the tire wall adjacent the bead of the axially outer tire in the set. The surfaces are then moved apart to achieve bead loosening.

  • Patent number: 4314597
Abstract: Apparatus for mounting and demounting tires and methods of mounting and demounting tires. The apparatus may include a clamp for holding a wheel as well as a tire clamp and pushing device for gripping a tire and applying a moving force thereto. The tire clamp is mounted for movement toward and away from the wheel clamp and toward and away from a support for the wheel clamp. It is operated, during tire mounting, to nonaxially urge a tire having one part of one bead received in the drop center of a wheel away from the wheel to draw that part into the drop center while axially moving the tire at a remote location toward the wheel so that the beads at the remote location are disposed between the flanges of the wheel.
