  • Patent number: 4920951
Abstract: A gas-fired heating device suitable for burning animal horns comprises a burner body and an external casing which is part of the burner body. A heating tip is heated by a flame in the burner body and the external casing is arranged and adapted to prevent flames escaping from the burner body and foreign bodies entering the burner body. The device is held by means of a handle which may be adapted to accommodate a replaceable gas storage reservoir.

  • Patent number: 4277031
Abstract: A dual gas supply blow torch has two gas inlets and a gas outlet for connection to a nozzle; a mixing and control valve operated by a single control device is interposed between the inlets and the outlet and this comprises a core axially displaceable in a bore provided with valve seatings. For each gas inlet the core has a valve formed by an annular elastic sealing joint engageable with a corresponding seating, and an escape passage is provided having a cross-section which can be varied by elastic deformation of the sealing joint in order to control the gas flow. At least one of the two valves has means for proportioning the gas flow rates.

  • Patent number: 4208571
Abstract: A hand tool for heating a workpiece includes an elongated electric heating element, a heat applying member conductively connected at one end of the heating element and in alignment therewith, and an elongated cover surrounding and spaced from the heating element. The heating element and heat applying member are connected to the cover adjacent only one end of the cover, with the connection defining the sole heat conductive path therebetween. A handle is disposed at generally right angles to the cover. A relatively wide bent bracket member, including a hair-pin shaped portion, substantially coextensive in length with the cover and disposed between the cover member and handle, connects the handle to the cover solely at the opposite end of the cover. The cover dissipates heat throughout its length and the bracket is wide enough to shield the handle from the heat dissipated by the cover. Thus the cover and bracket member shield the handle from heat generated by the heating element with the tool is in operation.
