Abstract: A decorative laminate having improved scratch and abrasion resistance is provided. In one embodiment, the decorate laminate includes a substrate or core, a decorative sheet on the substrate, and an overlay sheet on the decorative sheet. The overlay sheet is coated on both major surfaces to provide scratch and abrasion resistance to the laminate. The coating on the interior facing surface contains mineral particles having a particle size of from between about 10-30 microns. The coating on the exterior facing surface contains a mixture of first mineral particles having a particle size of from between about 3-8 microns and second mineral particles having a particle size of less than about 1.0 micron. The first mineral particles are preferably alumina particles, and the second mineral particles are preferably sol gel process alumina particles.

  • Publication number: 20080268273
Abstract: A wood veneer surfaced laminate and method of making it are provided which produces a product having the appearance of a natural wood product, but with the toughness, moisture resistance, stain resistance, impact resistance, and abrasion resistance of melamine resin surfaced laminate products. The wood veneer surfaced laminate is made by providing a sheet of a natural or engineered wood veneer; impregnating the sheet with a first liquid curable resin such that said liquid resin substantially completely impregnates the sheet; coating a second liquid curable resin onto a surface of the sheet; laminating the sheet to a core while curing the resins to form a natural or engineered wood veneer surfaced laminate.

  • Publication number: 20070022481
Abstract: A precautionary measure against cell-phone triggered bombs is described that restricts call terminations within a designated security risk area without shutting down the entire network. Embodiments described herein provide for restricting call terminations directed to a designated security risk area that are originated from non-privileged users, i.e., the general public, yet authorizing call terminations directed to the security risk area that are originated from privileged government users (e.g., GETS/WPS users). Call originations are permitted within the security risk area from both privileged and non-privileged users.

  • Patent number: 7081300
Abstract: A decorative laminate assembly having a decorative laminate top layer assembly. This top layer assembly includes, in descending superimposed relationship, a decorative layer and a core layer that includes PETG, or other polymeric material. Preferably, the top layer assembly also includes a wear resistant overlay layer on top of the decorative layer, and the core layer's PETG is in a sheet form. The top layer assembly may be directly bonded to a water resistant substrate. The decorative laminate assembly of the present invention can be used for a variety of purposes, including flooring applications. When the present invention is used for flooring applications, it is preferred that the overlay layer has enhanced wear resistant qualities and that the water resistant substrate comprise PVC or cement fiberboard.

  • Patent number: 7031628
Abstract: Systems and methods for setting up grid voltage for a tandem pin charging device for charging a photoreceptor in a xerographic printing machine. A charge-generating emitter ratio of a first charging unit is determined and a first grid voltage is set based on the charge-generating emitter ratio of the first charging unit. A charge-generating emitter ratio of a offset voltage is then determined and a second grid voltage is set, based on the determined charge-generating emitter ratio of the offset voltage. A final voltage of a photoreceptor is then compared with a final target voltage.

  • Publication number: 20030116261
Abstract: A method of producing a deep embossed tile design postformable high pressure decorative laminate by first preparing artwork having a first layer of fibrous sheets impregnated with a thermosetting resin, a second layer having a plurality of adjacent tiles comprising a plurality of fibrous sheets impregnated with a thermosetting resin, wherein the tiles were previously pressed and heated, and a third layer having a plurality of shims. The assembly is then pressed and heated against a rigid substrate whereby the second layer forms a substantially convex shape on the upper surface of each tile, thus imparting substantially concave impressions on the first layer. The first layer is subsequently removed from the second and third layers, and grooves are formed in the first layer, preferably by machining. The method also includes forming a negative image texturing plate from the artwork and then forming the embossed laminate from the texturing plate.

  • Patent number: 6551678
Abstract: A deep embossed high pressure decorative laminate having a plurality of integral tiles with various surface textures bordered by deep embossed portions. Each tile of the laminate has a peripheral thickness greater than the thickness of the non-peripheral portions of the tile. Preferably, each tile has a concave profile along its upper surface when viewed in cross section. A method of producing artwork necessary for the deep embossed high pressure decorative laminate of the present invention comprises assembling a first layer of fibrous sheets impregnated with a thermosetting resin, a second layer comprising a plurality of adjacent tiles comprising a plurality of fibrous sheets impregnated with a thermosetting resin, wherein the tiles were previously pressed and heated, and a third layer comprising a plurality of shims.
