  • Publication number: 20030099851
Abstract: Polyolefin films having excellent barrier and metal adhesion characteristics and methods for producing the same are provided. The polyolefin film structures include a polyolefin core layer having a first and second side, a heat sealable layer adjacent to the first side of the core layer and substantially coextensive therewith, and a high barrier layer adjacent to the second side of the core layer and substantially coextensive therewith. The high barrier layer includes a blend of ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer and nylon. Preferred embodiments of the present invention also provide for a metallized skin layer adjacent to the high barrier layer and substantially coextensive therewith.

  • Patent number: 6455150
Abstract: A heat-sealable multilayer film comprising: (a) an upper heat-sealable layer comprising (I) an ethylene polymer, copolymer, or terpolymer and (ii) a particulate, crosslinked hydrocarbyl-substituted polysiloxane having a mean particle size of from about 0.5 &mgr;m to about 20.0 &mgr;m, as a combined slip agent and antiblocking agent; (b) an intermediate core layer comprising a propylene polymer; and (c) a lower heat-sealable layer consisting essentially of (I) an ethylene polymer, copolymer, or terpolymer, (ii) a particulate, crosslinked hydrocarbyl-substituted polysiloxane having a mean particle size of from about 0.5 &mgr;m to about 20.0 &mgr;m, as a combined slip agent and antiblocking agent; and (iii) from about 0.15 wt% to about 1.5 wt% of a liquid, hydrocarbyl-substituted polysiloxane. The upper heat-sealable sealable layer does not contain a liquid polysiloxane, but may have a coating of liquid polysiloxane transferred from the lower heat-sealable layer.

  • Patent number: 6420041
Abstract: A skin layer of a thermoplastic polymer includes an additive to promote metal adhesion to the surface of this layer. This additive is one or more compounds of the formula, R-X, where R is an aliphatic hydrocarbyl group having an average of from 20 to 200 carbon atoms and X is a polar group, such as —COOH or —CH2OH. The film may be biaxially oriented and include a polypropylene core layer. The film may be metallized with an appropriate metal, such as aluminum. A heat sealable skin layer may be provided on the opposite side of the film from the metallizable skin layer.

  • Patent number: 5191418
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for the processing of digital control data associated with an HD-MAC type video signal as well as a device for the implementation of the method. In this method, during one processing period, the digital control data associated with the video signal of the following processing period is decoded. The digital control data corresponding to n successing processing periods (n.gtoreq.2) is stored and then the data thus stored is decoded on a time sharing basis so as to achieve the output, in parallel, of the desired pieces of digital control data with their specific delay. Application to high-definition television.
