  • Patent number: 12254395
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided to improve traditional chip processing. Using crossbar computations, the convolution layer can be flattened into vectors, and the vectors can be grouped into a matrix where each row or column is a flattened filter. Each submatrix of the input corresponding to a position of a convolution window is also flattened into a vector. The convolution is computed as the dot product of each input vector and the filter matrix. Using intra-crossbar computations, the unused space of the crossbars is used to store replicas of the filters matrices and the unused space in XIN is used to store more elements of the input. In inter-crossbar computations, the unused crossbars are used to store replicas of the filters matrices and the unused XINs are used to store more elements of the input. Then, the method performs multiple convolution iterations in a single step.

  • Publication number: 20210281742
Abstract: In example implementations, an apparatus is provided. The apparatus includes a video camera, a detection device, a tracking device, a display, and a processor. The video camera is to capture a video image of a plurality of documents. The detection device is to detect the plurality of documents in a frame of the video image. The tracking device is to track each one of the plurality of documents that is detected in a series of frames of the video image. The display is to generate a visual indicator around each one of the plurality of documents in the video image that is displayed. The processor is in communication with the video camera, the detection device, the tracking device, and the display to control execution of the video camera, the detection device, the tracking device, and the display.

  • Patent number: 10875067
Abstract: Systems and methods for using full-width hot sprays to pre-heat rolling mills prior to processing of metal sheet or plate are described herein. The hot sprays may be individually controlled. Using hot sprays can allow the rolling mill to reach operating temperature and achieve a desired thermal crown so that metal sheet or plate may be processed immediately within tolerances for flatness and gauge accuracy. Pre-heating of rolling mills can eliminate the need of the rolling mill to operate in a transitional period of work roll heating and can increase efficiency by eliminating or reducing scrap material and mill downtime. Hot sprays may also be incorporated with existing coolant systems to provide thermal control systems for rolling mills with bi-directional temperature controls.

  • Patent number: 10016799
Abstract: A closed loop temperature control system for use in tandem rolling mills. The closed loop temperature control system uses dynamic information about the temperature of the material moving through the mill to adjust the work rolls to adjust the amount of thickness reduction between the stands to control the temperature of the material as it moves through the mill. In one embodiment, the control system is configured to eliminate or reduce temperature differences across the length of the material as the material moves through acceleration, steady state, and deceleration stages of the rolling process.

  • Publication number: 20170165728
Abstract: A textured work roll can impart a desired texture on a metal substrate, such as an aluminum or aluminum alloy sheet. The textured work roll can be used for applying a gloss finish on the metal substrate. The textured work roll can be textured by grinding the work roll to form a ground work roll; electro-discharge texturing the work roll to form an electro-discharge textured work roll; and polishing the work roll to form a polished work roll. The polished work can have an Ra value between 0.30 ?m and 0.70 ?m. The polished work roll can be used to apply the gloss finish on the metal substrate.
