Abstract: Consumer battery which comprises an electricity generating unit (EGU) 100 and a fuel carrying unit (FCU) 200 that form a passive tubular fuel cell. The EGU comprises an outer tubular collector 130 and an inner tubular collector 140, so that the parts of the EGU are arranged between both collectors and the inner collector applies an outward pressure on said parts. The EGU also comprises two adjacent electricity generating tubular cells 110 and 120 that are connected in series and that can be arranged either consecutively or concentrically. Each tubular cell comprises a proton exchange membrane that, on each side, has a catalyst and a gas diffuser, and also comprises two or more cylindrical seals for sealing the cell and preventing gas leakage.

Abstract: A safety device in hermetic seals in electrochemical cells of the type having a general construction comprising a metallic container (1), in which the active materials which constitute the anode (2) and the cathode (3) are separately contained, characterised in that facing the lower surface of the cover (5), the plastic part (4) has an upper surface with three channels (12) arranged radially at 120° and formed by a reduction in the nominal and normal thickness of the material of the plate (4) which is comprised between the weakened section (10) and the peripheral wall (7); this reduction is progressively greater towards the centre of the plastic part (4) and determines a gradual reduction in the thickness of the annular base (8), or an increasing depth of the channels (12), in the direction from the peripheral wall (7) towards the core (6), the smallest thickness of the annular base (8) being slightly greater than the thickness of the weakened section (10).

Abstract: Zinc alloy for use in an alkaline battery, the alloy including aluminium, bismuth, indium, magnesium, strontium and optionally lead, besides the unavoidable impurities in the aforementioned metals. The alloy can be made by adding pre-alloys of some of the alloying elements or of zinc. The alloy proves useful in reducing the hydrogen gas evolution of the battery.
