Publication number: 20240281263Abstract: A method for decentralized management of edge computing nodes, where the user equipment assumes direct control of the edge nodes through an integrated edge manager module, which has means for seamlessly onboarding edge applications onto edge computing nodes, eliminating the need for a central management entity in the network. The user equipment further includes a context storage module to store applications and support the migration of their context into another edge computing node. The edge manager module of the user equipment can request the application context data of edge applications running in an edge computing node, store context data, onboard the edge application configurations in other edge computing nodes, instantiate the edge applications, and configure the application context data into the destination edge computing node, even in scenarios without direct connectivity between edge nodes.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 19, 2023Publication date: August 22, 2024Applicant: UNIVERSIDAD DE VIGOInventors: Alberto Estévez Caldas, Rubén Pérez Vaz, Francisco Javier González Castaño, Felipe José Gil Castiñeira

Patent number: 10356660Abstract: Systems and methods for optimizing network traffic are disclosed. In one embodiment, a system for optimizing the performance of a plurality of networks includes a first terminal device, a traffic steering controller, and a terminal traffic steering agent. The traffic steering controller may be configured to receive user profiles, terminal metrics and network performance metrics and create traffic steering rules based on the user profiles, terminal metrics, and network performance. The terminal traffic steering agent may be configured to receive traffic steering rules from the traffic steering controller and direct a virtual network switch based on the traffic steering rules. The virtual network switch may be configured to handle network traffic at a virtual network interface and, based on directions received from the traffic steering controller, exchange network traffic at least at a physical interface of at least one of the plurality of access networks.Type: GrantFiled: June 20, 2017Date of Patent: July 16, 2019Inventors: Carlos Giraldo Rodriguez, Jorge Ernesto Fontenla Gonzalez, Felipe Jose Gil Castineira, Francisco Javier Gonzalez Castano, Carlos Perez Garrido

Patent number: 6393254Abstract: The object of the call masking system for mobile telephones is to prevent the operation of mobile telephones which are present in a closed environment without interfering with the normal operation of other telephones which are outside the closed environment. To this effect, the system generates interference signals which will prevent the mobile telephones from receiving the signaling channels sent by the base stations (for example, GSM call signaling channel). The system monitors the power with which the carriers of the neighboring base stations are received inside the room and will adjust the interference power radiating in the signaling channels so that the carrier to interference signal ratio will make the operation of the mobile telephones impossible. The system can be applied to closed environments wherein mobile telephones should not ring when receiving a call.Type: GrantFiled: August 23, 2000Date of Patent: May 21, 2002Inventors: José Maria Pousada Carballo, Francisco Javier Gonzalez Castaño, Fernando Guillermo Isasi De Vicente
