  • Patent number: 4920885
Abstract: A propellant containing device for a power actuated tool used to drive fasteners into concrete and the like. A cartridge member has an inner substantially cylindrical recess. The recess has an inner area and is filled with propellant. A cap closure member is used to seal the cartridge member and holds a detonator charge. An annular skirt formed integral with the cartridge member is located so as to act as one half of the anvil when the detonator charge is compressed between the annular skirt and the cap closure member using rim-fire techniques. The cap closure member and the cartridge member are made from a suitable plastic material.

  • Patent number: 4700753
Abstract: A spacer for spacing the leading component of a single file column of electronic components from the following component as the components are advanced by a feeder along a path which extends to a pick-off point of a component handling machine, each electronic component having a body portion and lead wire means projecting from the body portion below the feeder.

  • Patent number: 4650060
Abstract: A feed conveyor for a machine for forming the leads of electronic components comprises a pair of conveyor belts which have a forward run extending in a face-to-face relationship. A gaping entrance is formed between the conveyor belts at the upstream end thereof and pinching jaws are provided for gripping the conveyor belts at the entrance and moving conveyor belts toward and away from one another to move the nip which is formed between the belts between a downstream position and an upstream position. A component feeding mechanism is provided for feeding components one at a time into the nip and a drive mechanism is provided for intermittently driving the conveyor belt so that components are gripped between the conveyor belts at uniformly spaced intervals for movement into the working station of the forming mechanism.

  • Patent number: 4624289
Abstract: A machine for forming the leads of electronic components has an endless load transporting belt. The load transporting belt is mounted on rollers which are arranged in a triangular configuration so as to support the load transporting belt with its forward run extending along a longitudinally elongated planner work plane which extends through a work station. A first guide rail is disposed opposite and extends longitudinally of the forward run to define a component guideway therebetween which extends through said work station. A second guide rail is located below and supports the forward of the load transporting belt. A drive motor is connected to the load transporting belt to drive it through said work station. At least one lead working mechanism located in said work station and has work tools disposed laterally outwardly from the guide rails and remote from said support face, for use in forming the leads of said electronic components.

  • Patent number: 4529083
Abstract: A machine for use in shaping the leads of electronic components has a component transporter which comprises a pair of discs each having a resiliently flexible outer peripheral portion in which a plurality of lead receiving notches are formed. Edge separation slots subdivide the peripheral edge portion into a plurality of independently flexible segments. Magnets are arranged to deflect successive segments laterally away from one another during passage through the loading station to widen the gap between the segments to receive the body of a component therebetween and thereafter permit the successive segments to move toward one another to clamp in the body of a component therebetween. A transfer wheel has a peripheral edge formed with a plurality of component recesses. The transfer wheel is mounted to rotate with its peripheral edge overlapping a length of the outer peripheral portion of the discs during passage through the loading station.

  • Patent number: 4361173
Abstract: A machine for use in the shaping of the leads of electronic components is described herein which includes a work transporter in the form of a belt or a wheel or the like which has a plurality of pockets formed in it which are proportioned to receive the body portion of the component. The transporter is resiliently deformable in an area of the pockets and the pockets are proportioned to receive and apply a retaining force to the main body portion of the component to prevent movement of the component relative to the transporter. At least one lead forming mechanism is operable in the work path for forming the leads to a predetermined configuration.
