  • Patent number: 8794406
Abstract: Damper which is, in particular, stiff during the inward stroke thereof and can be used, for example, as a railway damper. The piston which divides the cylinder into two chambers is provided with non-return valves which operate in both directions and are configured as characteristic. A sleeve extends from the bottom of the cylinder which is displaceable in the interior of the piston/piston rod and one end of which is connected to a reservoir and the other end of which may be connected to one of the chambers. In addition, a bottom valve is present in the cylinder. The combination of sleeve/bottom valve is fitted in such a manner that when the piston moves inwards in the cylinder, the liquid volume which has to be displaced is moved by additional rod volume which enters the cylinder via the sleeve in the reservoir. During the outward movement, the liquid is replenished from the reservoir via the bottom valve.

  • Publication number: 20080000155
Abstract: A gasification system that comprises a gasification reactor and a synthesis gas cooling vessel, and its use. The gasification reactor comprises a pressure shell for maintaining a pressure higher than atmospheric pressure; a slag bath located in a lower part of the pressure shell; and a gasifier wall arranged inside the pressure shell. The gasifier wall defines a gasification chamber wherein during operation the synthesis gas can be formed, a lower open part of the gasifier wall which is in fluid communication with the slag bath and an open upper end of the gasifier wall which is in fluid communication with the synthesis gas cooling vessel via a connecting conduit. The synthesis gas cooling vessel comprises an inlet for hot synthesis gas; an outlet for cooled synthesis gas; and means to directly contact liquid water with the hot synthesis gas as formed in the gasification reactor in use.

The gasifier wall defines a gasification chamber wherein during operation a synthesis gas can be formed, a lower open part of the gasifier wall which is in fluid communication with the slag bath and an open upper end of the gasifier wall which is in fluid communication with a quench zone. The quench zone comprises a tubular formed part positioned within the pressure shell, open at its lower and upper end and having a smaller diameter than the pressure shell thereby defining an annular space around the tubular part. The lower open end of the tubular formed part is fluidly connected to the upper end of the gasifier wall and the upper open end of the tubular formed part is in fluid communication with the annular space.

  • Publication number: 20060260191
Abstract: A method and system for producing synthesis gas comprising CO, CO2, and H2 from a carbonaceous stream using an oxygen containing stream. A stream containing a carbonaceous material, and a stream containing oxygen are injected into a gasification reactor, where the carbonaceous stream is partially oxidised to obtain a raw synthesis gas. The raw synthesis gas is removed from the gasification reactor and directed into a quenching section wherein a liquid, preferably water, is injected in the form of a mist.

  • Publication number: 20060191201
Abstract: A reactor vessel for performing a steam reforming reaction having a vessel inlet for natural gas and steam; a vessel inlet for a hot gaseous medium; a vessel outlet for the steam reforming product; and a reactor space which is a bed of steam reforming catalyst, which reactor space inlet is fluidly connected to the inlet for natural gas and steam and at its outlet end fluidly connected with the outlet for the gaseous product; wherein inside the catalyst bed a passageway is provided fluidly connected to the vessel inlet for the hot gaseous medium for passage of hot gaseous mixture counter currently to the flow of reactants in the catalyst bed.
