  • Publication number: 20080032651
Abstract: A relay, for use in an indoor multi-carrier radio frequency wireless communications system, stores multiple predetermined phase adjustment profiles. The best of the stored phase adjustment profiles is selected by a receiver, which sends a message to the relay, indicating the profile to be used. The selected stored phase adjustment profiles is then applied to a multi-carrier signal received at the relay, to form a phase adjusted multi-carrier signal, and this phase adjusted signal is then transmitted from the relay.

  • Publication number: 20070183455
Abstract: There is described a method of processing a serial data signal to generate a corresponding transformed signal, for example encoded signal. The method includes steps of: (a) providing one or more signature sequences; (b) analysing the serial data signal to determine therein one or more signal sequences for which holds that combining such one or more signal sequences with said one or more signature sequences does not result in generation of illegal states; and (c) combining one or more of the determined signal sequences of the serial data signal with said one or more signature sequences so as to transform the serial data signal into the transformed signal. Moreover, there is also described apparatus (100) operable to execute the method and/or a corresponding inverse method.

  • Publication number: 20060280667
Abstract: The invention relates to a method and apparatus for purifying off-gasses of gas-fired plants. According to the invention, just methane or both metane and Nox contents in an off-gas stream of a plant are reduced by contacting the off-gas stream with a plasma and a catalyst.

  • Publication number: 20060075240
Abstract: Many methods for reversible watermarking (embedding schemes that allow perfect reconstruction of the original host signal) are highly fragile in the sense that the slightest modification of watermarked content prohibits the recovery of both the original signal as well as the embedded auxiliary data. In order to obtain robustness against transmission or channel errors, the embedding method according to the invention accommodates error correction data in a portion of the data embedding capacity. In an advantageous embodiment, the host signal (36) is segmented in segments, and error correction data (p(n)) for a segment (S(n)) is accommodated in data (37) being embedded in a subsequent segment (S(n+1)) along with restoration data (r(n)) for reconstructing the host signal. The remaining portion of the embedding capacity is used for payload (w).

  • Publication number: 20060045062
Abstract: Described is a transmission system (10) for transmitting an information signal (21) via a plurality of subchannels from a transmitter (12) to a receiver (16). The transmitter (12) first demultiplexes the information signal (21) into a plurality of information subsignals (33). Next, the information subsignals (33) are encoded according to a code with certain properties, e.g. a maximum distance separable (MDS) code, and multiplexed. Finally, the resulting subsignals (31) are channel encoded and transmitted to the receiver (16). The receiver (16) comprises a channel decoder (46,52,76,128) for successively channel decoding the received subsignals by incorporating decoding information (83,87,91) of already channel decoded information subsignals. Next, the resulting subsignals are demultiplexed, decoded according to said code and multiplexed into an output signal.

  • Publication number: 20060033645
Abstract: The invention discloses a method of embedding information for high quality restoration of a media signal (typically an audio-visual signal) in a lower quality version of the signal. To this end, the signal x is encoded using a high quality encoder (Q2). The code sequences z produced by the high quality encoder are mapped into code sequences y that are associated with a hypothetical lower quality encoder (Q1). The latter code sequences y are transmitted. A simple decoder will decode the received sequences y, and thus reproduce a low quality version of the signal. A more sophisticated decoder is arranged to inversely map the received code sequences y into the code sequences z, that were actually produced by the high quality encoder (Q2). The sophisticated decoder will thus reproduce a higher quality version of the same signal.
