  • Patent number: 5777256
Abstract: A sealing device for sealing the combustive gases of a caseless munition is mounted between a barrel and a firing chamber of a small caliber weapon. The sealing device includes a ring-shaped sealing element with a first end forming a radially extending sealing surface structured to press against the rear face of the barrel, and a second end includes an outwardly facing axially extending lip designed to press against an inner wall of the firing chamber. A cooling element reduces the rise in temperature of the sealing element, which comes into contact with the combustive gases.

  • Patent number: 5610362
Abstract: A mechanism for feeding ammunition in a small arm includes a linkage, a rotating member and a magazine follower. The small arm includes a barrel, a breech that moves under recoil and a magazine that extends approximately parallel to the barrel. The linkage is connected to the breech and moveable to transport the round from the magazine in a direction parallel to a longitudinal axis of the round and approximately perpendicular to the axis of the barrel. The rotating member is connected to the linkage and rotates the round by approximately by 90.degree. such that the round is substantially aligned with the axis of the barrel. The magazine follower is shaped to receive the round and to rotate with and translate along the rotating member to insert at least a portion of the round in the barrel.

  • Patent number: 5608982
Abstract: A firing system for a small firearm including a caseless munition of a small calibre that is discharged by an electric arc in the vicinity of the primer of the munition from a high voltage applied between two electrodes. The electrode forming the anode is mounted on a support fastened to the rear of a firing chamber. The support ensures sealing for the combustive gases and insulation for the anode. The electrode forming the cathode is constituted by the metallic firing chamber of the weapon.
