  • Patent number: 10201250
Abstract: A container assembly includes a thermoformed tub of relatively thin plastic material having a peripheral wall extending to an upper edge and defining a product containing space. A lower rim is connected to the upper edge of the tub, the lower rim defining an opening giving access to the product containing space and being formed of a relatively thicker plastic material. An upper rim is connectable to the lower rim and a lid is provided for selectively closing the opening. By the use of a thin walled thermoformed tub, the amount of material required for forming the body of the container is limited. Furthermore, the lower rim of relatively thicker plastic material provides the required support to the relatively thin material of the peripheral wall, allowing effective connection to the upper rim.

  • Publication number: 20180215513
Abstract: A package for a powdered nutritional product comprises a container for receiving the nutritional product, having a base and a peripheral wall. A lid assembly comprises a circumferential rim, defining an access opening, for connection to the container and a lid, pivotably attached to the rim by at least one hinge having a hinge axis. The lid has an open position and a closed position in which it closes the access opening. The hinge comprises a rim portion, integral with the rim, and a lid portion, integral with the lid, that can be engaged to each other to join the lid to the rim. The hinge is are arranged such that the lid portion can only be engaged with the rim portion in the open position of the lid. In the closed position of the lid, the lid portion is locked to the rim portion, preventing separation of the lid portion from the rim portion. The hinge is also arranged to prevent opening of the lid beyond a point at which the package is unstable.

  • Publication number: 20170101229
Abstract: A lid is disclosed for a container having a peripheral wall extending to an upper edge and defining a product containing space. The lid structure comprises a lower frame, an upper frame and a lid. The lower frame connects to the upper edge of the tub and defines an access opening giving access to the product containing space. The upper frame is connectable to the lower frame in a snap-fit connection and forms a circumferential first seal therewith. The lid is arranged to close the opening, the lid and the upper frame forming a circumferential second seal. In this manner, an improved sealing connection can be achieved and the upper frame can be manufactured separately from the lower frame and joined thereto at a later stage of the production process.
