  • Patent number: 7147392
Abstract: A writing instrument, which has an inner and outer writing element with separate writing medium reservoirs. The writing elements are coaxially mounted in an outer barrel and axially moveable with respect to one another. A driving mechanism may be actuated to allow a user to selectively extend one writing element. The inner and outer writing elements may have an inner sleeve therebetween to improve, for instance, rigidity of the outer writing element and to prevent contamination of the writing medium reservoirs. An outer sleeve may also be provided over the outer writing element. The outer sleeve can function to hold various components of the outer writing element together, and to allow for clean and easy refill of the outer writing element, especially when the outer writing element is a porous nib with a filler-type writing medium reservoir. The writing instrument is designed so that a user can replace the inner and/or outer writing elements when their respective writing medium have been expended.

  • Patent number: 6951431
Abstract: A hand-held device for applying a film of, for example, adhesive, covering, or colored material onto a substrate. The device includes a housing, in which a film material supply is disposed, and an application member with an application end to which the film material can be supplied. The application member is moveable back and forth between a retracted position in the housing and an application position projecting out of the housing through a housing opening. An actuating element is manually moveable between a stand-by position and an active position and activates the application member to move into its application position when it moves into the active position. To improve the operability and handling of the hand-held device, the actuating element is arranged on a side surface of the housing.

  • Patent number: 6732782
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for transferring a film of adhesive, covering, or colored material from a backing tape onto a substrate, having a housing in which a supply reel and a take-up reel for the backing tape are rotatably mounted, and comprising an application member arranged on the housing around which the backing tape loops. The application member is mounted so as to be moveable between a retracted non-use position and a pushed forward use position in which the application member is biased towards the non-use position by elastic pull-back force. The device has an actuation member which is disposed such that it is accessible from outside and, when moved with manual actuating force, enables the application member to move into its use position in which it is pressed against the substrate to transfer the film.
