  • Patent number: 7054291
Abstract: An abbreviated point-to-point protocol (PPP) negotiation in a wireless communication system is performed between a first peer, such as a mobile station, and a second peer, such as a packet data service node. The first peer sends a link control protocol option designated option X to the second peer. The option X identifies a user profile that includes at least one pre-negotiated point-to-point protocol parameter. If the second peer supports the user profile and the at least one parameter is acceptable to the second peer, the second peer acknowledges that the user profile is acceptable to the second peer. In response, the first peer acknowledges that the user profile is acceptable to the first peer. In response to both peers acknowledging that the user profile is acceptable, each of the peers sets a respective state machine in accordance with the user profile.

  • Patent number: 6876640
Abstract: A Point-to-Point protocol (PPP) session with a mobile station is initiated in a wireless communication system. The session is negotiated by a first Packet Data Service Node (PDSN), which creates a PPP context for the mobile station for the session. The PPP context is added to a PPP register, which stores the PPP context indexed by the International Mobile Station Identifier (IMSI) of the mobile station for later retrieval if needed. In the event the mobile station is handed over to a second PDSN, such as when the mobile station roams and the first PDSN cannot be reached, the second PDSN retrieves the stored PPP context using the IMSI of the mobile station so that the PPP session can be resumed without a need for a complete renegotiation of the PPP context. The PDSNs further periodically re-register or update the PPP context on the PPP register.

  • Patent number: 6844726
Abstract: A vectorial magnetometer (1), measures the components of a magnetic field in three directions (Oxyz) using a scalar magnetometer (2). The field is periodically modulated in each of the directions by generators (Gx, Gy, Gz) which have a specific frequency for each direction and that power coils (Ex, Ey, Ez). Synchronous demodulation of the of the output signal of the scalar magnetometer (2) for each of the three frequencies permits the relative continuous component of each axis to be found. The vectorial magnetometer (1) is characterized in that it has means (Dx D?x, Dy D?y, Dz D?z) that can carry out a double demodulation for phase and quadrature for each of the frequencies and processing means (70) that use the continuous component modules for phase and quadrature to calculate a transfer function of the scalar magnetometer at the frequency in question, and to apply this function to the correction of the components.

  • Patent number: 6687252
Abstract: In a General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) network, a system and method of dynamically allocating an Internet Protocol (IP) address to a mobile terminal (MT) operating in the network. A Gateway GPRS Service Node (GGSN) requests IP addresses over the Gi interface from a Radius server in an IP-based network. A Conditional PDP Address (CPA) parameter is stored in the MT's Home Location Register (HLR) as part of the user subscriber data, and is passed to the GGSN during the GPRS Attach procedure. The CPA parameter indicates whether the subscriber is entitled to a backup IP address in case of failure to obtain one over the Gi interface, and whether the MT is a user of a real-time application. A timer in the GGSN sets a maximum time period (Ti) that the GGSN will wait for a response from the server, and a counter (Ni) sets the maximum number of requests that are sent.

  • Patent number: 6604142
Abstract: A method and apparatus for filtering responses to a gatekeeper discovery request message that is multicast from a mobile terminal to a plurality of gatekeepers in a communications network so that an optimum gatekeeper can be selected. When using the H.323 protocol, an enhanced Gatekeeper Request (GRQ) message includes criteria for an optimum gatekeeper for the mobile terminal. Each gatekeeper, upon receiving the enhanced GRQ message, determines whether it meets the criteria in the request message. If so, a confirmation message is sent to the mobile terminal from each gatekeeper that meets the criteria. In an alternative embodiment, gatekeepers that receive the enhanced GRQ message send a response indicating their capabilities to meet each of the criteria. The mobile terminal then determines the optimum gatekeeper by comparing the reported gatekeeper capabilities to the optimum gatekeeper criteria.

  • Patent number: 6546888
Abstract: A stabilizing fin assembly for use with a watercraft includes a mounting structure, a stabilizing fin structure, and a releasable securement structure. The mounting structure is fixedly attached to a side portion of a hull of a watercraft. The stabilizing fin structure is removably mounted to the mounting structure. When the mounting structure is fixedly attached to the hull, the stabilizing fin structure is disposed externally of the hull and adjacent the side portion of the hull in an operative position wherein at least a portion of the stabilizing fin structure extends into a body of water while the watercraft is in a normal operative position. The releasable securement structure is disposed in a releasably secured position on the hull. The stabilizing fin structure facilitates removal and replacement of the stabilizing fin structure without requiring access to the interior of the watercraft.

  • Publication number: 20020167909
Abstract: The present invention relates to a system, a method and a service node for providing a pre-paid service to a mobile station for data transmission in a packet data cellular telecommunication network. A connection is established between the mobile station and the service node in the packet data cellular telecommunication network. Upon establishment of the connection, at least one pre-paid connection limit parameter is obtained from a subscriber account database. The at least one pre-paid connection limit parameter is indicative of a limit at which the connection must be terminated. Then, the service node monitors the connection to determine whether the data transmission exceeds the at least one pre-paid connection limit parameter. If the data transmission exceeds the at least one pre-paid connection limit parameter, the connection is terminated.

  • Publication number: 20020090338
Abstract: To determine a coefficient of diffusion of a radioisotope in a radioisotope-containing implant structure and to calculate a quantity of radioisotope to be introduced in an implant structure in view of administering to a vascular region of a patient's body a dose of radioactivity at a given dose rate, a relation is calculated between a coefficient of diffusion of the radioisotope in the implant structure and a coefficient of diffusion of the radioisotope in the vascular region of the patient's body for at least one given period of time during which the radioisotope has to be released. The diffusion coefficient of the vascular region is determined. The method also determines, from the diffusion coefficient of the vascular region and in connection with the above relation, the diffusion coefficient of the implant structure required to release the radioisotope within the given period of time.
