  • Patent number: 5087443
Abstract: The invention relates to a silicon/water emulsion comprising, in an aqueous medium:1/ an organopolysiloxane containing a diester functional group containing, per molecule, at least one unit of formula:ZR.sub.a SiO.sub.(3-a)/2where Z has the formula: ##STR1## where the symbols R' are C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 monovalent saturated hydrocarbon, C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 alkoxyalkyl or C.sub.6 -C.sub.12 aryl, alkylaryl or arylalkyl radicals, the symbol X is H or CH.sub.3, the symbol W is a covalent bond or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkylene radical, the symbols R are C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl, vinyl, phenyl, 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl or hydroxyl radicals, only one of the radicals R per silicon atom denoting hydroxyl, a is equal to 0, 1 or 2;2/ an emulsifier chosen from anionic, cationic, amphoteric or nonionic surfactants. Application: to the treatment of textile fibers, to the coating of flexible substrates and to the cosmetic or dermatological treatment of hair or of the skin.

  • Patent number: 4978701
Abstract: Diorganopolysiloxanes containing itaconate functional groups include at least one recurring structural unit of the formula (1): ##EQU1## in which a is 1 or 2; the symbol Z is one of the radicals --CH.sub.2 CH(COOR')CH.sub.2 COOR' and --C(CH.sub.3)(COOR')CH.sub.2 COOR'; the symbols R, which may be identical or different, are each a C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl, vinyl, phenyl or 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl radical, and, in the case where a=2, one of the radicals R may be a hydroxyl group; and the symbols R', which may be identical or different, are each a C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 monovalent hydrocarbon radical or a C.sub.2 -C.sub.12 monovalent alkoxyalkyl radical, and are useful, e.g., as PVC lubricants and hydraulic fluids; they are facilely prepared by hydrolysis/polycondensation or by hydrosilylation.

  • Patent number: 4918209
Abstract: The oximinosilanes, e.g., methyltris(methyl ethyl ketoximo)silane and vinyltris(methyl ethyl ketoximo)silane, are improvedly produced by continuously charging a halogenated silane, an oxime, ammonia gas and an organic solvent medium into a stirred reaction zone, removing precipitated ammonium halide from the medium of reaction), and recovering product oximinosilane from the organic solvent phase, e.g., by distillation.

  • Patent number: 4672004
Abstract: Noncrystallizable single-component organopolysiloxane compositions which are storage-stable in the absence of water, curable into elastomers at ambient temperatures and above in the presence of water, and which are well adopted for the production of silicone coatings and seals, include:(A) at least one .alpha.,.omega.-dihydroxydiorganopolysiloxane polymer;(B) a methyltriacetoxysilane cross-linking agent therefor; and(C) an effective amount of at least one additive for preventing the crystallization of said cross-linking agent (B), miscible therewith in all proportions and liquid at ambient temperature, said additive comprising:(i) a diester of ortho-phthalic acid with a monoalcohol of the formula GOH, wherein G is a hydrocarbon radical containing from 4 to 12 carbon atoms; or(ii) an ester of acetic acid with a monoalcohol of the formula G'OH, wherein G' is hydrocabon radical containing from 6 to 18 carbon atoms.
