  • Patent number: 6633230
Abstract: A network management apparatus and method for determining an optimum threshold value for a monitored characteristic of a network is described. The optimum threshold value is determined by counting a number of previously received events generated from values for a monitored characteristic which were above or below an existing threshold value for the monitored characteristic, and determining the optimum threshold value in dependence on the counted number. An optimum threshold value is provided, which is tailored to suit the network concerned.

    Assignee: 3Com Corporation
Inventors: Ronan François Daniel Grandin, David James Stevenson, Andrew Hunter Gray, Neil William Gray
  • Patent number: 6569451
Abstract: Polymerized liposome particles which are linked to a targeting agent and may also be linked to a contrast enhancement agent and/or linked to or encapsulating a treatment agent. The targeting imaging enhancement polymerized liposome particles interact with biological targets holding the image enhancement agent to specific sites providing in vitro and in vivo study by magnetic resonance, radioactive, x-ray or optical imaging of the expression of molecules in cells and tissues during disease and pathology. Targeting polymerized liposomes may be linked to or encapsulate a treatment agent, such as, proteins, drugs or hormones for directed delivery to specific biological sites for treatment.

  • Publication number: 20020141337
Abstract: A network management apparatus and method is disclosed for determining an optimum threshold value for a monitored characteristic of a network. The optimum threshold value is determined by counting the number of previously received values for a monitored characteristic which values exceeded an existing threshold value for said monitored characteristic, and determining the optimum threshold value in dependence on the counted number. An optimum threshold value is provided, which is tailored to suit the network concerned.

  • Publication number: 20020120737
Abstract: A network management apparatus and method reduces the number of events presented in an event list to a user. In particular, the apparatus and method reduces the number of events, which are generated during the monitoring of a network and may be due to rebooting of a device on the network, presented to the user by determining, upon receiving an event relating to a device, whether a more significant event already appears in the event list relating to the device, and if so, preventing the received event from being presented in the event list to the user.

  • Publication number: 20020116490
Abstract: A method of monitoring a network of devices comprising defining at least two types of device, and monitoring the different types of device using different monitoring procedures, either interrogating said devices at different intervals or interrogating said devices using different protocols .The defined types of device comprise core devices and edge devices. The method also comprises determining the number of devices in the network to be monitored, and changing the monitoring intervals for each type of device in accordance with the determined number.

  • Patent number: 6278200
Abstract: A current management system for a telecommunications power system includes a power bus, a communications bus, and a distribution module connected to the power bus and the communications bus. A plurality of loads are connected to the distribution module. A plurality of rectifier modules are connected to the power bus, the communications bus and to at least one alternating current source. Each of the rectifier modules includes a neuron that generates a rectifier current signal for the rectifier module. A master controller that is connected to the communications generates an average current signal from the rectifier current signals. The neurons generate a first rectifier control signal that slightly modifies current that is output by the rectifier modules based upon the average current signal and the rectifier current signal. A temperature sensor senses a temperature of each of the rectifier modules. The master controller generates an average temperature signal from the rectifier temperature signals.
