  • Patent number: 8215241
Abstract: A vertical linear actuator mechanism for positioning a load at a desired elevation above a support surface is described. The vertical linear actuator mechanism in one aspect thereof comprises an electric motor having a drivable shaft. The drivable shaft is coupled to a linear extendable mechanism having a load connector at a top end thereof. A potentiometer detects the position of the load connector relative to the support surface and provides position signals to a motor controller circuit which monitors the position of the load connector and controls the operation of the electric motor. In another aspect thereof the vertical linear actuator is comprised by a pair of gas spring cylinders interconnected together. The vertical linear actuator mechanism is secured inside a telescopic pedestal and extends and retracts the pedestal.

  • Publication number: 20120168594
Abstract: A vertical linear actuator mechanism for positioning a load at a desired elevation above a support surface. A vertical linear actuator is comprised by a pair of gas spring cylinders interconnected together and secured inside a telescopic pedestal and extends and retracts the pedestal. An actuable lock mechanism is engageable with connecting bars associated with a respective one of the gas spring cylinders and immovably connects the connecting bars to position the load at a desirable elevation above the support surface.

  • Patent number: 6112976
Abstract: The disclosed invention provides for a method of manufacturing solder columns for particular use in attaching substrates to a printed circuit board. The method results in columns of homogeneous composition and thus overcomes problems associated with the phenomena of segregation. The method includes the steps of forming particles of the metal composition to be used for the columns from a molten source of the composition. The solid particles are then formed into segments of homogeneous composition by drawing ingots of the composition into wire and severing the wire into segments.

  • Patent number: 5207119
Abstract: A pedal mechanism for a human propulsion vehicle such as a bicycle wherein the length of each of the pedal arm is increased during the power stroke and decreased during the return stroke of the rotation cycle. It comprises a pair of sun gears rigidly attached to the frame of the vehicle, each meshed to an adjacent planetary gear of identical diameter. A lever, radially projecting from each of the planetary gears, generate the alternative movement of the corresponding pedal arm. The levers also change the angular orientation of the pedal arms by moving them toward the power stroke zone, forcing the pedals arm to stay as long as possible in power stroke, thus giving the pedal mechanism no dead point. This pedal mechanism is very suitable for bicycle, especially mountain bicycles and racing bicycles where high power and efficiency are crucial.
