  • Patent number: 8744826
Abstract: A method of simulating the behavior of an articulated set of bone parts, in particular the vertebral column comprising a construction step of constructing a three-dimensional geometrical model from data that is specific to the subject in a reference position; and a mechanical customization step of determining the geometrical model by detailing at least some of the connection areas of the bone parts. The mechanical customization step includes a stage of customizing critical connection areas for the bone parts; a data acquisition stage of acquiring data concerning the articulated bone set of the subject during at least one clinical test of posture; and a characterization stage for characterizing the mechanical parameters of said junction areas in order to cause the model to reproduce the data acquired during the above-mentioned clinical test.

  • Publication number: 20110264223
Abstract: The present invention relates to an intervertebral disc prosthesis (1) comprising at least three components, namely a first plate, called the upper plate (2), a second plate, called the lower plate (3), and a movable core (4) arranged between said plates (2, 3), characterized in that the movable core (4) comprises a concave upper surface (44) in congruent contact with the convex surface of the upper plate (2) and a convex lower surface (45) in congruent contact with the concave surface of the lower plate (3), each of said surfaces being defined by a distinct radius of curvature, the radius of curvature of the concave surface (44) of the core being less than that of its convex surface (45), the centres of said concave (44) and convex (45) surfaces being situated on the radial axis of symmetry of the central core and being placed on the same side of the prosthesis (1), namely that of the upper plate (2).

  • Publication number: 20110015514
Abstract: A method comprising: -providing acquisition data (34,38) of a patient, comprising acquisition data of a bone structure of the patient in a given position, providing a knowledge base (22,43,47), comprising data related to such bone structures, -determining a patient-specific position-specific finite-element model of the bone structure comprising: patient-specific three-dimensional geometry, patient-specific mechanical characteristics of the bone structure, and patient-specific position-specific mechanical load applied to the bone structure in the position.

  • Patent number: 5861025
Abstract: Tubular expandable member for an intraluminal endoprosthesis, of the type comprising longitudinal portions linked successively in pairs by at least one transversal portion. The invention is characterized in that the transversal portion comprises at least one undulation which is deformable during expansion.
