  • Publication number: 20060258021
Abstract: A method of coating an SPR biosensor specific for an analyte to reduce protein fouling, the method has the steps of providing an SPR biosensor, providing a solution of 11-mercaptoundecanol; incubating the SPR biosensor in the 11-mercaptoundecanol solution to form a self-assembling monolayer (SAM); incubating the SPR with SAM in a solution of epichlorohydrin and diglyme; next incubating the SPR in ethanolamine; preparing a solution of EDCNHS and a biocompatible polymer; incubating the SPR from ethanolamine in the EDC/NHS/polymer solution; providing a ligand specific for the analyte in a solution; incubating the polymer-coated SPR in the ligand solution to permit the ligand to react with the polymer-coated SPR; washing the ligand-coated SPR to remove unreacted ligand, thereby providing an SPR capable of reacting with the analyte. Another method replaces the solution for the SAM layer with a solution of MHA or NHS-MHA with HT, and attaches the ligand to the resulting SAM layer.

  • Patent number: 7019066
Abstract: The present invention provides a rubber composition which when vulcanized may be used to form a safety support intended to be mounted on a wheel rim within a tire. The invention also is directed to such a support, capable of supporting a tread of the tire in the event of a drop in inflation pressure, and to a mounted assembly comprising this support. A rubber composition according to the invention comprises (phr: parts by weight per 100 parts of diene elastomer(s)): (a) a diene elastomer, (b) particles of an ?-olefinic thermoplastic polymer having a melting point greater than or equal to 150° C., in an amount of 5 to 30 parts by weight per 100 parts diene elastomer (phr), wherein the mean size by weight of the particles is between 50 ?m and 500 ?m, (c) greater than 60 phr of reinforcing filler, and (d) from 3 to 8 phr of sulphur.

  • Patent number: 6983243
Abstract: A multiple description coder generates a number of different descriptions of a given portion of a signal in a wireless communication system, using multiple description scalar quantization (MDSQ) or another type of multiple description coding. The different descriptions of the given portion of the signal are then arranged into packets such that at least a first description of the given portion is placed in a first packet and a second description is placed in a second packet. Each of the packets are then transmitted using a frequency hopping modulator, and the hopping rate of the modulator is selected or otherwise configured based at least in part on the number of descriptions generated for the different portions of the signal.

  • Patent number: 6675851
Abstract: The present invention relates to a rubber-based product, having at least one buffer zone to trap oxygen external to said product in order to protect at least one sensitive zone of said product from oxidation, said buffer zone comprising a composition containing at least one elastomer and at least one iron (III) salt selected from iron (III) acetylacetonate and an iron (III) salt of a carboxylic acid having the formula Fe(CnH2nO2)3 in which n is between 13 and 23. This product is produced by incorporating, by mechanical working, said iron (III) salt into the composition in order to obtain said buffer zone. The buffer zone composition is advantageously used in a tire and imparts improved rolling resistance.
