  • Patent number: 7725763
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for replicating a software application in a multi-computer architecture (cluster). The software application is executed on a first computer of the cluster, which represents a primary or operation node, and is replicated on at least one other computer of the cluster, which represents a secondary node, including replication of the resources associated with the software application. The method includes streamlined updating of the replicated resources via a dynamic introspection mechanism supplying the structure of the application that is to be replicated and the dynamic graph of the implemented resources and dependencies.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 28, 2003
Date of Patent: May 25, 2010
    Assignee: International Business Machines Corporation
Inventors: Marc Vertes, Laurent Dufour, Francois Richard, Gregory Kurz

  • Patent number: 6338838
Abstract: The present invention relates to a photostable cosmetic or pharmaceutical light screening composition containing a dibenzoylmethane UV-A screening agent and a p-methoxycinnamate UV-B screening agent, one of said agents being incorporated into a polymer latex; and, optionally, other conventional UV-A and UV-B screening agents. Additionally, the present invention relates to a method of photostabilizing dibenzoyl-methane UV-A screening agents and p-methoxycinnamate UV-B screening agents when used together, by incorporating one of these agents into a polymer latex.

  • Patent number: 6322582
Abstract: The device for fixing a thread (25) to a surgical needle (22) includes a bearing piece (2) and a punch (16). The bearing piece (2) has a housing (10) adapted to receive a needle (22) so as to immobilize it when the punch (16) comes into contact with the needle.

Date of Patent: November 27, 2001
    Assignee: Ethicon, Inc.
    Inventors: Francois Richard, Jacques Descoueit
  • Patent number: 6272828
Abstract: A cable twisting method and apparatus, for forming double twisted pair cables. The invention longitudinally distributes the eccentricities of the individual cables, where the helical propagation of the eccentricity is not conformal to the helix formed by the geometric shape of the cables.

  • Patent number: 6178622
Abstract: The invention provides a device for assembling a urgical needle (700) and a suture thread (110, 115), the device comprising an extractor device (300, 400, 500) for extracting one segment of suture thread (110, 115) from a bundle (100) of segments (110, 115) the extractor device (300, 400, 500) comprising means (322, 324, 400) suitable for displacing segments (110, 115) by air flowing transversely to the longitudinal direction of the bundle, a suction inlet (322, 324) suitable for being placed laterally relative to the bundle (100), and two sliding surfaces (310) suitable for guiding one segment (110, 115) to the suction orifice (322, 324) when the segments (110, 115) are displaced by the flow of air.

  • Patent number: 5410478
Abstract: A primary odometer velocity is measured by a sensor on an odometer member travelling over terrain. The velocity is corrected by a calculating unit to take account of the inclination of the terrain at the point of contact where the member is in contact with the terrain. The inclination is measured by means of force sensors, e.g. measuring the forces applied to said member as a whole. An inertial unit supplies the orientation and the angular velocities of the vehicle. The device has application to navigation of all-terrain robots.
