  • Patent number: 10005550
Abstract: A compound aircraft having a fuselage, a main rotor, a main anti-torque device and two wings positioned on either side of the fuselage. Each wing has at least one movable flap situated at its trailing edge. The flaps can be deflected asymmetrically relative to an air stream generated in reaction to the lift of the main rotor on either side of the fuselage so as to create longitudinal aerodynamic forces in opposite directions on either side of the fuselage and consequently create an additional torque that is added to the main torque from the main anti-torque device.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: July 12, 2016
Date of Patent: June 26, 2018
    Assignee: AIRBUS HELICOPTERS
    Inventor: Francois Toulmay

  • Patent number: 6530542
Abstract: Rotary wing aircraft with electric pitch control. According to the invention, each blade (5.i) of the wing comprises a plurality of flaps (6.i) which are able to control the pitch of said blade and are aligned along the span of the latter, said flaps being individually controlled in orientation from a flight control device (17). Elimination of mechanical and hydromechanical members for controlling the rotor of such an aircraft, without loss of reliability.
