  • Patent number: 8470044
Abstract: An intervertebral prosthetic device has a medullary protection shield with a concave shape designed to be adapted to the anatomy of a medullary canal against which the medullary protection shield is able to be positioned, a spherical tough core inside a flexible integral assembly designed for an intervertebral space, and the flexible integral assembly has a truncated parallelepiped shape, wherein a front portion of the truncated parallelepiped shape is higher than a rear portion of the truncated parallelepiped shape, and wherein the rear portion is concave and corresponds to the concave shaped medullary protection shield.

  • Publication number: 20110060415
Abstract: An implant is intended to be inserted into an intervertebral space and more specifically between two cervical vertebrae or also into a lumbar space, following body measurement adaptations. This component comprises, on the inside, an assembly comprising a protective and reinforcing shield made of a tough material with, in the continuation thereat, a ball which acts as a load-spreading centre. In order to adapt to suit the morphology of the receiving site, the implant is a soft polymer monobloc sized to suit the intervertebral space with a concave posterior end and an anterior end that is flat with rounded corners made of a preferably slightly soft polymer such as silicone or any other material that is similar but able to withstand compression. The upper and lower faces are reinforced by a yoke of greater density and are covered with an osteoconduclion or osteoinduction agent. The exterior periphery of the component is enclosed in a strip of polyester embedded into the surface of the constituent material.
