Abstract: A method and system for generating alerts based on predicted wireless connection losses. A message is received that includes a first position of a mobile device, an indication of a service being provided to the mobile device via a wireless connection provided by a first bearer, and an mobile device identifier. A direction and speed of the mobile device is received. An amount of time elapsing before the mobile device moves to a second position at which the mobile device experiences a loss of the wireless connection via the first bearer is predicted. An alert that indicates that the loss is occurring in the amount of time is generated. The alert is sent to the mobile device as a response to the message.

Abstract: A repair system is disclosed comprising: a server having a repair manager; a client device having a repair agent; and a network, wherein the server and the client device are connected to the network. The repair agent, in response to a repair signal, is operable to restrict communication of the client device on the network to the repair manager, and the repair manager is operable to provide a repair application. The repair system is enabled to correct actual or potential problems including software viruses and trojans, and spam messages. Diagnosis and repairs can be carried out in response to a deleterious detection system or through user input to the device. The repair agent requires only limited system resources and therefore it particularly applicable to mobile devices where system resources are at a premium.

Abstract: A method of building an interactive display related to TV programs in an internet protocol television (IPTV) environment includes parsing a plurality of TV programs provided in an IPTV environment for display to a user. The step of parsing includes capturing an image in each TV program, identifying video content in each captured image, interpreting the video content, capturing audio data, identifying an audio content in each captured audio data, and interpreting the audio content for each captured audio data. The method further includes the steps of identifying a selected TV program by the user; determining a correlation level between the interpreted video and audio content of the selected TV program and the interpreted video and audio content of each of the other TV programs; determining TV programs other than the selected TV program; and building and presenting a mosaic display on a TV display including the selected TV program.

Abstract: Information collecting system wherein at least an Application Service Provider (ASP) provides services to a user through an Internet network and wherein there are at least an access network to which is connected the user and an Internet Service Provider (ISP) network connected to each access network by a RADIUS client, the Internet network being connected to the ISP network by a proxy. This system comprises a RADIUS Client Agent (RCA) connected to the ISP network and adapted to collect information about parameters of the connection of the user to the system, and at least a Provisioning Proxy Agent (PPA) adapted to receive the information from the RCA and to add this information in the request sent by the user to the ASP.

Abstract: The invention provides a system and a method for automatically switching from a local storage to a remote storage for recording a broadcast video stream, the switching being triggered by the fact that the local storage is almost full, and for automatically switching from a local storage to a remote storage for playing a broadcast video stream in a delayed manner, the switching being triggered by the fact that the video frames in the local storage are exhausted.

Abstract: A method for use when an original email is sent from an originator to a receiver, having a real email address, at a destination email address, which includes a concatenation of an alias and a magic number, is provided and includes replacing the destination email address with the real email address of the receiver, adding a new header field to the original email indicating that the destination email address was an original destination of the original email and forwarding the original email to the receiver at the real email address. If the receiver replies with a reply email, the method further includes setting a from header field in the reply email with a new header field indicating that the destination email address was an original destination of the original email, and if the original email is appended, removing the new header field from the original email.

Abstract: Method of re-routing mail traffic exchanged with a messaging system in a data transmission system in which at least one user connected to an IP transport network such as the Internet can transmit requests to and receive data from a plurality of servers through a load balancer, wherein at least one of the servers being a mail server in charge of mail exchange with the user through the IP transport network. This method comprises the steps of forwarding a routing context to an external service infrastructure partner (SIP) device when the system is triggered by an event A, reconfiguring the load balancer in order to be able to send a mail protocol to the SIP device when receiving the mail traffic to be re-routed to the SIP device, and forwarding a user context to the SIP device.

Abstract: A system and associated method for managing resources of a network load balancer. The method begins with registering the network load balancer with the presence server. Next the network load balancer notifies the presence server when an end user requests resources from an application server connected to the network load balancer. The network load balancer then provides the end user access to the application server and subscribes to an information feed pertaining to the end user and supplied by the presence server. After receiving a notification from the presence server that the end user changed their presence information, the network load balancer updates their records pertaining to the end user in a database. Finally, the network load balancer determines whether to continue providing the end user with access to the application server or purge the end user's records from the database.

Abstract: A method for managing bandwidth for transmitting the content of a video to users requesting the content. The total time duration T of the video is divided into N consecutive sessions. A unicast or multicast connection in normal play mode may be created for each session only at discrete times separated by a time increment ?T equal to T/N. An overall bandwidth B is established for transmitting the content of the video to the users. The overall bandwidth B is divided into a first part B1 and a second part B2. The first part B1 is allocated to a normal play mode of the video during the N sessions such that B1=N*R, where R is the bit transmission rate of the video. The second part B2 is allocated to unicast sessions dedicated to implementation of at least one non-normal streaming mode of the video.

Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method for dynamically externalizing service delivery with a streaming system in a data transmission system. The method comprises the steps of forwarding at least one user context to an external service infrastructure partner (SIP) device when the streaming system is triggered by an event A; reconfiguring a switch layer when the at least one user context is received by the external SIP to allow user reconnection requests to be rerouted to the SIP; stopping the stream delivery for the at least one user; and restarting the stream delivery by the SIP for the at least one user upon receiving a user reconnection request.

Abstract: A method of selecting a program item by defining a programming template relating to a predetermined period for an individual viewer. The programming template includes a plurality of sequential time slots, each time slot being associated with a particular content type selected from a standard program content classification structure. For a given time falling within a respective the time slot, a program item is selected from a plurality of candidate program items. This program item identified as having content of the type associated with the one of the time slots. Thus an EPG is automatically compiled on the basis of a user profile which calls for a certain type of content (film/news/weather/clips etc.) at certain times of the day or week.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and system for processing electronic mails in case of a address change of the addressee. It provides an ECOA resolving process of searching for a new or alternative address for this addressee, optionally triggered in case of unknown address or non delivery notification message. This process comprises forwarding the email under ECOA resolving from one MTA to another MTA in the network, for trying to reach a MTA connected with a database where old and new addresses are memorized in association. Such resolving forwarding is done according to specific routing tables, possibly independent from DNS routing server, which may include specific or local analysis rules based on the invalid address.

Abstract: The invention provides a quality manager for use in a digital content delivery system. The digital content delivery system comprises a plurality of user devices, a source unit connected through a communication network to the user devices for delivering digital content to the user devices in the form of bursts of content. The quality manager is connected to the user devices and adapted to receive notifications therefrom, each notification received from a given user device identifying a burst received by the given user device and including a quality indicator related to the quality of the received burst. The quality manager is further adapted to select a set of bursts among the bursts identified by the notifications, based on predefined rules comprising a rule related to the quality indicator included in the notifications, and for sending a request for retransmission of the selected bursts to the source unit.

A method according to an embodiment of the invention includes a first phase, including steps for storing, in association with each other, user identification data and an active version of the web page. The method further includes at least one iteration of a second phase, including a step for sending from user's browser to a network server a request for change information about the bookmarked web page since the stored version was active. On response of the server, if the web page has changed, the user has the possibility to choose to keep the stored old version of the web page or to accept the current version of the web page. The network server may be a server associated with the web page, e.g., a web site server, or an ISP server.

Abstract: A method for handling a web service call by clients in a communication network is disclosed. The method comprises issuing client requests to call a web service from a client requester. The method also comprises registering the client request to a callback web service within a callback web service, and invoking the called web service. A response web service is coupled to the callback web service for receiving a response to the at least one client request to call a web service and is also coupled to the client requester for delivering the response when a client request to obtain the response is issued from the client requester.
