  • Patent number: 8956237
Abstract: A golf swing training apparatus includes a base for supporting a person and at least one target path. A pair of risers is fixed with the base, each having a receiver for an arm mechanism that extends up and over the person's head, terminates at a distal end, and pivots between top and bottom positions. The arm mechanism includes a plurality of pulleys fixed thereto around which a cable is positioned. An urging mechanism urges the arm mechanism into the top position. The cable is fixed between the distal end of the arm mechanism and the riser, and includes a shackle at a distal end thereof. A generally cylindrical handle is slidably fixed with and captures the shackle between forward and rear stops. The handle includes a first laser and an opposing second laser for illuminating the target path during practice swings of the handle.

  • Patent number: 7806813
Abstract: An exercise machine in one embodiment includes a frame, a pivot arm, an adapter mounted on the pivot arm to adjust between various adapter positions, and an operator engagement device mounted on the adapter to adjust between various engagement device positions. The adapter is typically telescopically mounted on the pivot arm to extend and retract along a first axis about which the adapter is also rotatable. The engagement device is typically telescopically mounted on the adapter to extend and retract along a second axis which is transverse to the first axis and about which the engagement device is rotatable. The embodiments may include a pivotal connection between the pivot arm and a generally T-shaped handle for positioning the handle and for enhancing the use of the handle. Handle extenders may be included to lengthen a typical T-shaped handle. Unique cable and pulley configurations are also disclosed.

  • Publication number: 20050101464
Abstract: An exercise machine includes a frame with a bench and/or standing platform mounted thereon. A pivotable member is pivotally mounted on the frame and rotates against a force produced by gas springs or other mechanisms each pivotally and removably connected to the frame and pivotable member at respective mounting locations. The gas springs are selectively mountable at a variety of locations in order to vary the direction and degree of force against which the user works. A handle and foot rest may be connected to the pivotable member and a cable-pulley assembly may be mounted on the pivotable member and frame for manipulation by a user. The pivotable member may be bent or curved toward the frame. A mounting structure may be slidable along the pivotable member or members of the frame to facilitate positioning of the gas springs for adjusting the degree of resistant force experienced by the user.

  • Patent number: 6261211
Abstract: A dumbbell assembly having a dumbbell. The dumbbell has a center grip disposed between and connecting a pair of weight retaining spools. Each spool has an outer sidewall and a plurality of spaced apart radial flanges extending from the sidewall. An area between adjacent flanges on a single spool define a weight retaining facet. The dumbbell assembly further includes a toroidal shaped weight made from flexible material. The material forms a pocket which is filled with granular material. The weight is adapted to fit over the flanges and engage the facet.

  • Patent number: 6117051
Abstract: An exercise bench assembly having at least one leg block and a platform. The leg block has a pair of opposing laterally directed projections and the platform has a pair of projection receiving slots for respectively receiving the projections so that the platform can be supported by the leg block. The projections and the projection receiving slots have cooperating arcuate shapes to allow rotation of the platform with respect to the leg block.
