  • Publication number: 20210032581
Abstract: The present invention is related to an anaerobic photobioreactor and a method for active biomass cultivation, wastewater treatment, nutrients recovery, energy production and high-value products synthesis. Phototrophic bacteria are cultured in the anaerobic photobioreactor lighted with solar or artificial irradiation where certain light wavelengths are selectively discarded with a light selector installed on the top of the photobioreactor. In this light-based process wastewater treatment and resources recovery, like nutrients and high-value bioproducts (fertilizers, polymers and proteins) present in wastewater are performed simultaneously. Cultured biomass is treated by anaerobic digestion for biofuel production, including optative hydrolytic pre-treatment, and/or valuable bioproducts can be obtained in a downstream process.

  • Patent number: 10577266
Abstract: The present invention refers to an anaerobic process with filtration procedure for wastewater treatment at room temperature, that comprises: continuously feeding at least one anaerobic reactor, with previously sieved wastewater and feeding biodegradable organic waste—BOW—also previously sieved, said reactor being coupled to at least one gasified filtration membrane, with recirculation of biogas from the reactor, carrying out the anaerobic digestion of the organic fraction contained in the mixture of wastewater and the BOW, in the reactor, obtaining a treated mixture and filtering the mixture treated in the reactor, in at least one filtration tank through the gasified membrane under conditions such that the relationship between the biogas recirculated per square meter of membrane, and time unit, and the wastewater filtered—SGDp—is the minimum value allowed by the solid concentration in a treatment plant.

  • Patent number: 5605629
Abstract: The method is of the type wherein the raw or untreated water to be treated is made to circulate in cells or biofilters with submerged filtering beds working anaerobically and then aerobically or vice versa. A treatment module is used comprising at least two cells or biofilters in series (for example one biofilter under anaerobic conditions and one to five biofilters under aerobic conditions) in making phases of anaerobiosis and then aerobiosis alternate cyclically. The entry of flow to be treated takes place always in the anaerobic cell. Advantageously, each phase of the cycle is separated from another by a hold phase comprising a halt in the supply of water to be treated.

  • Patent number: 5582733
Abstract: To purify untreated water, for example waste water, containing organic pollution, materials in suspension and nitrogen-containing pollution, reagents are added under conditions adapted to coagulate all of the materials in suspension, including colloidal materials, to form granular physical/chemical floc. Diluting water is added, preferably after the reagents, in a flowrate ratio of at least 2/1. The dilute flocculated water is caused to flow through a bed of sludge in the form of such dense and granular floc and denitrifying bacteria. The bed is subject to turbulent but intermittent agitation. A denitrified effluent is recovered. This denitrified effluent is caused to flow through a biological filter or preferably through a fluidized bed containing nitrifying bacteria and into which oxygen or air is injected. A clarified effluent is obtained, some of which is recycled as the diluting water.
