The pocket is divided into a long central portion, and a pair of short terminal portions that are shorter than and straddle the long central portion of the pocket. The long central portion is filled with sand for weight in maintaining the protector on the front fender, while the pair of short terminal portions are empty of the sand and lie flat for not catching on the hood hinges of the vehicle.
