  • Patent number: 6789397
Abstract: An I.S. machine is disclosed wherein the blow molds are held open during a preheat blank mold mode of operation and the neck ring arms of an invert and neck ring assembly are rotated to an acute angle and opened to release held parisons. A cullet chute is defined in the section frame from a location below the invert of the assembly towards the blow molds to collect the parisons which are delivered by a parison deflector.

  • Patent number: 6539751
Abstract: An I.S. machine has a blankmold which is open at the top and includes inner and outer annular top sealing surfaces. Associated with the blankmold is a baffle including a body having a cup shaped portion closed with a vertical cylindrical bore open at the bottom, an annular bottom sealing surface for sealingly engaging the blankmold outer annular top sealing surface, and a top having a hole. A tubular sleeve communicates with the hole and extends vertically upwardly from the top of the body. A piston has a cylindrical head including a top surface, a cylindrical sealing surface and an annular bottom sealing surface having a plurality of radial notch means across the bottom thereof. A tubular rod extends vertically upwardly from the top surface for slidable displacement in the tubular sleeve, and a collar is secured to the top of the rod.

  • Patent number: 6386000
Abstract: An I.S. machine is disclosed which has at least one section having a mold station wherein a glass forming operation is performed within a mold which includes an opposed pair of mold halves each of which has a blank diameter which can vary within a selected range and a planar surface to be clampingly engaged with the planar surface of the other mold half at a mold centerline. The section has a mold open and closed mechanism which includes a pair of opposed displaceable mold holders for holding one or a plurality of opposed pairs of mold halves, and a drive assembly for displacing the mold holders from a selected open position, the location of which is a direct function of the dimension of the blank diameter of the mold halves supported on the mold holders, to a closed position.

  • Patent number: 6318129
Abstract: A mold half for mounting on a mold holder of a mold open and close mechanism of an I.S. machine. The mold holder includes an insert having a central locating lug on the top thereof and an annular front face. The insert also has an annular upwardly projecting rib, on either side of the lug, the outer surface thereof defining the top portion of the annular front face and inner surface thereof defining the front wall of corresponding annular groove segments. The mold half comprises a blank diameter portion, which can have a dimension within a predetermined dimensional range, to be located adjacent the annular front face of the insert proximate the lug and a two segment annular flange projecting outwardly from the blank diameter portion to be located on either side of the lug. Each of the annular flange segments includes a downwardly projecting annular lip segment for insertion into a corresponding annular groove segment on the insert.

  • Patent number: 3938777
Abstract: Three flow control valves are described, each of which incorporates a sleeve having a double conical valve seat and at least one frusto-conical valve member mounted on a support stem in a valve bore between first and second ports. In the first and second flow control valves, a restricted flow of fluid in one direction and substantially unrestricted flow in an opposite direction between the ports is obtained. The third control valve is provided with two valve members, and controlled flow rates in both directions between the ports are obtained. Any one of the control valves is readily converted into either of the other control valves and a total of only seventeen different parts is needed to construct any one of the valves.
