    Abstract: The motion detector alert device comprises a detector unit and an annunciator unit. The detector unit comprises a threaded base and a threaded socket. The threaded base of the detector unit screws into a motion sensing light fixture in place of the bulb. The bulb screws into the threaded socket. The detector unit monitors electrical energy passing from the motion sensing light fixture to the bulb and transmits a signal when the light fixture energizes the bulb. The annunciator unit may be located inside of a building. Responsive to reception of the signal sent from the detector unit, the annunciator unit may produce an audible sound to alert occupants of the building that motion has been sensed outside.

    Abstract: The invention provides a sheet material comprising bicomponent filaments having first and second polymer components that are arranged in substantially distinct zones within the filaments, with the first polymer component formed of a relatively lower melting polymer and the second component formed of a relatively higher melting polymer. The filaments of the nonwoven fabric layer are densely arranged and compacted against one another to form smooth, substantially nonporous opposite outer surfaces, and the nonwoven fabric layer are calendered such that the lower melting sheath polymer is fused to the contacting surface portions of adjacent filaments to impart strength and coherency to the nonwoven fabric layer. The sheet material has excellent breathability and liquid barrier properties and may be useful in house wrap, medical garments, and envelope applications.

    Abstract: In one embodiment, a nonwoven filtration medium is provided comprising substantially continuous sheath/core bicomponent filaments arranged to form an open, porous, fluid permeable spunbond nonwoven fabric. The core component of the filaments comprises polyester or polypropylene and the sheath component comprises polyethylene having a melting temperature less than the melting temperature of the core component and including an organic antimicrobial agent incorporated therein. A multiplicity of bond sites are distributed uniformly throughout the fabric and defined by regions where the lower-melting sheath component has softened and flowed together at filament cross-over locations, with the individual being filaments spaced apart from one another except at the filament cross-over locations. The spunbond nonwoven fabric preferably has a thickness of about 10 to 40 mils and an air permeability from 150 to 270 cfm/ft2/min.

    Abstract: Nonwoven fabric fabrics suitable for undergoing pleating to form filtration media are provided. The fabrics generally include at least three layers. The fibers forming the inner layer has a cross section providing greater stiffness, while the fibers forming the outer layers have a cross section providing greater durability. The resulting fabrics provide improved particulate holding and pressure drop characteristics at no sacrifice to durability.
