Abstract: A safety device is provided for a motor vehicle having a driver's seat whose sitting position can be adjusted by a seat adjustment drive, and a steering wheel whose steering wheel position can be adjusted by a steering wheel adjustment drive. A control unit evaluates the data which is relevant for the safety of a driving mode, and actuates the steering wheel adjustment drive with timing such that, before an anticipated accident event occurs, a movement of the steering wheel into an optimum steering wheel position for the driver in terms of safety equipment is initiated as a function of the current sitting position of the driver's seat.

Abstract: A safety device for a motor vehicle and related method, in which a head restraint is provided on a seat backrest of a vehicle seat, as well as a control unit with an evaluation of data relevant to safety during driving. The control unit temporally activates a head restraint displacing drive so that, before an accident event which can be anticipated occurs, a positioning of the head restraint into a head restraint setting for an occupant that is safety-optimum is initiated. The safety-optimized head restraint setting is dependent on the current backrest inclination setting of the seat backrest of the vehicle seat.

Abstract: The invention relates to a vehicle occupant protection system for a motor vehicle having a vehicle seat with airbags which are integrated into lateral areas of a seating part and of a backrest, the air pressure of the airbags being adjustable by means of a compressed air regulating device. According to the invention, a coordination system is provided which evaluates the data which is relevant to the safety of the driving operation, and times the actuation of the compressed air regulating device in such a way that at least one airbag of the vehicle seat is inflated before the occurrence of an anticipated accident.
