  • Publication number: 20240051863
Abstract: The present disclosure provides a device and a method with which flat glasses with particularly uniform thickness can be obtained. The methods are drawing methods in which a glass ribbon is drawn. In the method an aperture is used which allows a defined very small slit between the glass ribbon and the aperture also in the case of a change of the position of the glass ribbon.

  • Publication number: 20230416134
Abstract: A glass article is provided that has two plane-parallel main sides, a thickness between the two plane-parallel main sides of less than 3.0 mm, an average near-surface level of damage (ONSL) on each of the two plane-parallel main sides, and an average location-thickness variation (ODS) normalized with respect to the thickness on the specified measuring area. The average near-surface level of damage is less than 2000 damages with an extension of less than 1.0 ?m. The specified measuring area is 2×2 mm2. The average location-thickness variation (ODS) normalized is less than 10 nm per Rm thickness of the glass article. The average location-thickness variation (ODS) is a difference between a highest thickness and a lowest thickness within the specified measuring area.

  • Patent number: 10851009
Abstract: A method for producing ceramizable green glass components provided, as well as apparatus for performing such method and ceramizable green glass components producible by such method. The method is a redrawing process in which a preform is heated, in a deformation zone, to a temperature that enables redrawing of the glass. The deformation zone is particularly small, which permits redrawing of the ceramizable green glass bodies while avoiding ceramization during the redrawing. The method provides plate-like or sheet-like green glass components that have a particularly smooth surface.

  • Publication number: 20110309555
Abstract: A method is proposed for the solidification of a non-metal melt (130) which is located in a crucible (120) arranged in the device (100), wherein the device (100) has a multiplicity of inductors (100) for the creation of magnetic fields. By feeding in a first set of phase-displaced alternating currents (I1a, I2b, I3c, I4d) having a first frequency (f1), a first travelling field (W1) is created in the melt (130). By feeding in at least one second set of phase-displaced alternating currents (I2a, I2b, I3c, I4d) having a second frequency (f2), a second travelling field (W2) is created in the melt (130) which is directed against the first travelling field (W1), wherein the inductors (100) are arranged on the crucible (120) in a vertically extending arrangement, so that the alternating fields created (W1, W2) pass through the melt (130) in vertical direction (Y) and have a flow force minimum on the crucible or vessel wall.

  • Patent number: 7374714
Abstract: A process for shaping a body with elongate structures on its surface, bodies produced using the process, and to apparatuses having these bodies are provided. For this purpose, a preform is provided, at the surface, with structures which are elongate along one direction, the preform is heated at least in one region and the preform is drawn in the heated state until at least part of the preform has adopted a cross section which substantially corresponds to the desired cross-sectional shape or final cross-sectional shape. The preform is heated by means of radiation which has a spectral distribution which is such that at most half of the radiation power is absorbed during a single pass through the material.

  • Publication number: 20050031831
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for shaping a body with elongate structures on its surface, to bodies produced using the process and to apparatuses comprising bodies of this type, in order to enable spacers to be produced with a high degree of lateral positioning accuracy, in large numbers and at low cost with a process of this type. For this purpose, a preform is provided, at the surface (13), with structures (2-11, 2A, 11A, 2B) which are elongate along one direction, the preform which has been provided with the structures is heated at least in one region (14) and the preform is drawn in the heated state until at least part of the preform has adopted a cross section which substantially corresponds to the desired cross-sectional shape or final cross-sectional shape. The preform is heated by means of radiation which has a spectral distribution which is such that at most half of the radiation power is absorbed during a single pass through the material.
