Further, the one route is determined that is associated with the direction option and starts at the branching point, on which the vehicle is able to reach with the lowest expected energy requirement an energy charging location at which the energy storage unit can be charged. The energy requirement is compared with the energy quantity, and a warning indication is outputted with which the user is warned against the direction option if the energy requirement is greater than the energy quantity.
