  • Patent number: 8763951
Abstract: A cargo-adapted aircraft, in particular a personal aircraft, comprising a canard having two (and preferably only two) significant horizontal lifting surfaces, the smaller (canard surface) in front of the larger (wing), and having an opening at the rear of the fuselage through which objects can be loaded.

  • Patent number: 6520226
Abstract: A method and apparatus is taught for engaging, positioning, and splitting logs. A wedge section of a skid steer loader coupling device is received in a lip section of a log splitting system coupling device. A body section of the skid steer loader coupling device is urged into a flush position with a body section of a log splitting system coupling device. Levers on the skid steer loader coupling device are actuated from a first position to a second position so that pin devices coupled to the levers move from a disengaged to an engaged position with respect to apertures in the log splitting system coupling device. Hoses are coupled at a first end of the log splitting system and at a second end of the skid steer loader. The skid steer loader is maneuvered proximate a first one of the logs to be engaged from above the first one of the logs.

  • Patent number: 4314823
Abstract: Apparatus and method for chromatographic separation and quantitation of different ions of like charges in a sample, e.g., cations or anions. Referring to anion separation, the sample is directed to a first chromatographic column of the ion exclusion type in which the weak acids (e.g., carboxylic acids) and their salts are partially or totally resolved and separated from a fraction of strong acids (e.g., mineral acids) due to Donnan exclusion. The resolved weak acids may be passed directly to a conductivity cell for quantitative detection. The strong acids may be directed to anion exchange bed with a highly ionized developing reagent and eluted in resolved form with the effluent being passed to a suppressor ion exchange bed wherein the developing reagent is converted to a weakly ionized form without destroying the anion separation. Then, a fraction of the strong acids is detected with the same or a different conductivity cell.

  • Patent number: 4119580
Abstract: A method for forming agglomerated ion exchange particles in which finely divided synthetic resin coating particles are affixed to the surface of synthetic resin substrate particles. The surface of the coating particles have ion exchange sites with monovalent counterions (e.g., negatively charged) which are attracted to the ion exchange sites on the substrate particles. Multivalent ions (e.g., carbonate) of the same charge as such monovalent counterions are mixed into an aqueous disperson of the coating particles to displace the monovalent counterions thereby increasing the electrostatic charge density of the coating particles. Then, a slurry of the synthetic resin substrate particles is added dropwise to this dispersion which is mixed to form agglomerates by electrostatic attraction.

  • Patent number: 4074552
Abstract: A kit mountable on a front side of a door and against a lock mounted in the door, the kit thus enclosing a front side of the lock from direct contact therewith by a burglar; the kit including a metal frame and a forwardly bulging metal plate secured by bolts to the door front side and which enclose a rotatable key bushing position in front of the lock tumbler which is thus accessible only by a specially long key for being turned.
