  • Publication number: 20090024479
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention generally relate to a community-based recycling system and methods of utilizing same. In one embodiment of the present invention, a community-based recycling system comprises a first entity, providing recyclable material, a second entity, providing recyclable material, a load determining device for obtaining a qualitative or quantitative measurement of the recyclable material accumulated from both the first entity and the second entity, and a reward granted equally to each of the first entity and the second entity, wherein the reward corresponds to a value generated from the measurement of the recyclable material.

  • Publication number: 20090014363
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to a system and method of providing incentive to recycle recyclable materials by providing financial incentives to consumers for recycling at a central drop-off recycling facility. In one embodiment of the present invention, a method of providing incentive to recycle recyclable materials comprises creating an account for at least a first entity, providing a drop-off recycling center for receiving a plurality of recyclable materials from at least the first entity, receiving the recyclable materials at the drop-off center for processing, measuring and recording quantitative or qualitative data for the recyclable materials, calculating a reward correlating to the quantitative or qualitative data recorded for the recyclable materials and crediting the account for the first entity with the reward.

  • Publication number: 20080296374
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention relate to a system and method of providing incentive to recycle recyclable materials by providing financial incentives to consumers for recycling at a recycling kiosk. In one embodiment, a method of providing incentive to recycle recyclable materials comprises providing a recycling kiosk having a load determining device for receiving a quantity of recyclable materials from at least a first entity, obtaining identification data associated with the first entity, measuring the quantity of recyclable material received by the recycling kiosk, calculating a reward based on a measurement of the quantity of recyclable material disposed at least proximate to the recycling kiosk by the at least one entity, and associating the reward to the at least one entity.

  • Patent number: 4712222
Abstract: This invention provides improved performance and reduced cost relative to conventional carrier phase tracking systems. The invention improves the performance of the communication system by rapidly acquiring and reliably tracking the carrier signal with substantially digital hardware. The invention has no reverse slope null characteristic and therefore does not suffer from hangup. As such, acquisition time is independent of phase error. These solutions are provided without the added expense and calibration problems of a crystal filter or the performance compromise of the dual phase detector phase locked loop. The invention includes circuitry which removes the carrier from the received data signal and converts the signal to a complex baseband signal. The baseband signal is subsequently sampled to provide a plurality of complex samples. The phase of each sample is extracted and compared to the phase of an adjacent sample to provide phase difference signals.

  • Patent number: 4520493
Abstract: An adaptive, recursive frequency offset tracking system for effectively acquiring and tracking coherent as well as noncoherent electromagnetic data signals transmitted with or without countermeasure protection. The invention includes circuitry for eliminating the carrier frequency and generating complex samples of the baseband signal. The invention compares the phase of a sample to that of the previous sample to extract signals representing the phase difference between the two. The signals representing the phase difference are then converted to phasor signals and filtered to eliminate any noise component. The phase difference signals are derived from the phasor signals and accumulated to derive signals representing the frequency offset of the received data signal. The frequency offset signal is then provided to a phase shifter to correct for the effect of Doppler shift on the received data signal.
