  • Patent number: 8033341
Abstract: Disclosed herein is a lawn perforating tool and method of using same to prepare new lawn or garden areas or distressed regions of existing lawns or gardens for the planting of seed, example of which include, but are not limited to, grass seed, clover seed, wildflower seed, and the like. The lawn perforating tool of the present invention is particularly configured to provide in the soil and dead grass holes or indentations of a size, shape, and depth that is optimal for receiving and germinating new grass seed and of a density and distribution suitable to provide the resulting grass with a visually desirable pattern, rendering new growth indistinguishable from old growth.

  • Publication number: 20040118037
Abstract: The invention is a method of transforming a lawn into a stable, healthy plant community that can be maintained as a stable, healthy plant community without use of synthetic, non-organic, non-natural pesticides and fertilizers. The method comprises implementing a three-year, or three entire growing season program, wherein in the first two years, a transition is made to utilization of increasing proportions of organic and natural fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides, and improved biological, natural controls and cultural practices. In the third year or full growing season, the lawn is transformed into being free of synthetic, non-organic fertilizers, herbicides and pesticides through se of organic fertilizers, organic herbicides, organic insecticides, biological and natural controls, and improved cultural practices.

  • Publication number: 20040121914
Abstract: The invention is an organic, combined herbicide and fertilizer that includes a proportion of betaine by volume percent (“vol %) ranging from between 50 and 97 vol %; a proportion of organic fertilizer ranging from between 1 to 15 vol %; a proportion of adjuvants ranging from 1 to 15 vol %; and between 1 and 48 vol % of a water carrier. The organic, combined herbicide and fertilizer eliminates or controls weeds within established plant communities, such as turfgrasses, without use of artificial post-emergent contact herbicides that are hazardous to users and the environment.
