  • Patent number: 10425385
Abstract: A data transport computing device includes a housing, a drive bay framing assembly including an upper platform bracket and a lower platform bracket, a first computing board mounted to an upper surface of the upper platform bracket, and a second computing board mounted to a lower surface of the lower platform bracket. The first computing board is secured between the upper platform bracket and front, rear, and top sides of the housing, and the second computing board is secured between the lower platform bracket and the front side, rear, and bottom sides of the housing. Data storage drives are mounted between the upper and lower platform brackets. In operation, the second computing board encrypts data from a customer and transmits the encrypted data to the first computing board over a network cable within the housing, and the first computing board writes the encrypted data to the data storage drives.

  • Patent number: 10398061
Abstract: A portable data center includes a cooling system comprising a cooling circuit, one or more air plenums, and one or more air moving devices. The cooling circuit circulates a heat transfer fluid through a portion of the cooling circuit that passes through the one or more air plenums. The heat transfer fluid that passes through the one or more air plenums cools air flowing through the one or more air plenums via the one or more air moving devices. The cooling circuit also circulates the heat transfer through a separate portion of the portable data center where heat is rejected from the heat transfer fluid into the separate portion of the portable data center. In some embodiments, the air plenums and at least a portion of the cooling circuit are mounted in a sub-floor space between a platform within the portable data center and an outer structure of the portable data center.

  • Patent number: 10383250
Abstract: A network-attachable rack-mountable computing device is housed within a shippable enclosure and is configured to mount in a rack. The device may be initialized (e.g., prepared to receive data, and an updateable electronic shipping display set to a shipping destination) by a service provider and shipped, in accordance with a displayed destination address, as a self-contained shipping unit. The device may be coupled with other devices via coupling mechanisms included in an enclosure of the device and may be mounted in a rack at a destination via mounting brackets included in the enclosure of the device. The device may be installed onto a network at the destination and loaded with data. When the device is received back at the service provider, the data is transferred from the device to a service provider storage facility, wiped of data, and prepared to be sent out again.

  • Publication number: 20180285219
Abstract: A switching device is implemented in a network-attachable data transfer device to provide data storage access to other such devices. In some embodiments, network-attachable data transfer devices are arranged in a clustered configuration to provide various computational and storage services. When one or more devices of the cluster fails, various implementations associated with the switching device, via an external data interface, provide operational mitigation, optimized data recovery, and efficient reinstatement of normal operation of the cluster.

  • Patent number: 9883610
Abstract: An electronic device may include a door filter that is moveable to transition between a first position that enables visibility of a display located behind or underneath the filter and a second position that causes air entering the electronic device to pass through an air filter. In some embodiments, the door filter may be moveable or rotatable relative to a door filter frame that is removably coupled to an electronic device housing and located over an aperture in the electronic device housing. The door filter may include a first portion that couples to a second portion to secure or at least partially enclose the air filter. When the door filter frame is decoupled from the electronic device, a security door may close the aperture by engaging the same coupling points in the electronic device housing as previously engaged by the door filter frame.

  • Patent number: 9645628
Abstract: Various embodiments are directed toward improving computing performance for data intensive computing applications by arranging a physical machine into a single computing appliance that includes tightly coupled dedicated computation and storage resources that may scale to multiple peta-byte or greater storage in concert with providing a similarly scaling computing and data caching platform, monitoring co-resident guest applications, and data access applications. Generally, the computing appliance may be arranged to execute compute applications and data storage applications in a single self-contained computing device. The data storage applications may execute within virtual machines (VM's) and the compute applications may execute in other co-resident VM's residing one or more computing appliances.

  • Patent number: 8671414
Abstract: Various embodiments are directed toward improving Virtual Machine performance by reducing the amount of communication protocol processing performed between co-resident Virtual Machine guest applications executing on the same physical machine. Overhead can be reduced by short-circuiting the full communication protocol stack when a plurality of Virtual Machine guest applications are hosted and executing on the same physical machine such as a data storage node or a compute accelerator node. Improvements may also be realized by enabling the sharing in virtual memory of physical memory pages between co-resident Virtual Machine guest applications, and employing a low latency high bandwidth network for enabling guest applications to communicate with each other that are located in different nodes in a data storage cluster.
